About Mlilo Community Tours

Mlilo Community Tours and Safaris is the only Community Tour company targeting to promote the Community Based Tourism Concept; by getting the

as:- Malindi Women Aids Fighters Organisation (MWAFO):

Mwafo is a community based organization that has for a long time tried to address HIV/AIDS issues and to assist sick people.

It is in this regard that Mlilo Community Tours and Safaris has seen the need to intervene and assist Mwafo to achieve its mission. Mwafo has a small income generating project of recycling the waste polythene papers by weaving them into baskets, hats and handbags but there is no market reachable yet.

- Shimba Hills Botanical Garden (Conservation & Education):

The Shimba Hills Botanical Garden is not just a place of great beauty; it is a legacy for future generations. It is a visitor education centre with education programs that help to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the earth’s biodiversity.

- Magangani Butterfly Farm:

The Magangani butterfly farm is located between Malindi and Watamu and gathers 46 members. The aim of this working group is to conserve and protect the forest in order to create jobs for the members. They do butterfly farming, mushroom farming, bee keeping, catering services, agro-tourism, traditional dances and educational meetings for children and tourists.

Malindi City TourAt 8:00, just after breakfast, a driver and a guide will pick you up from

your hotel and drive you out of town to MADCA village of the local Giriama tribe until 9:30. Here you will be able to see the way how they live, go inside their huts, visit a witch doctor and then visit a primary school.

After the school, at 9:30, head to a factory which is more than a rehabilitation center for birds of prey. Here tame birds can be held while you take a photo.

At 10:30, the guide will point you a few important buildings, you will stop for photographs or shopping before heading to the Malindi Museum in order to see how Malindi has developed over the years.

Then you will also be able to see the coastal land and the Vasco Da Gama pillar, before going to the wood curving factory. See the carvers as they work, visit the show room, shop and head straight to the hotel at 12:30.
