Chapter 1 Product Overview

FeaturesSupports IEEE802.11n and IEEE802.11b/gWith support for Wireless-N, Wireless-G, and Wireless-B standards, the AirStation can transfer data to and from all standard 2.4 GHz wireless clients.

Supports WDS connectionExtend the coverage of wireless connection using WDS feature.

Dual speed modeDual speed mode makes wireless transmission faster by using 2 channels, allowing 150Mbps data transmission.

Support AOSS and WPSBoth AOSS (AirStation One-touch Secure System) and WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) are supported. These automatic connection standards make connection with compatable wireless devices easier.

Browser Based AdministrationThisunitcanbeeasilyconfiguredfromawebbrowseronyourcomputer.

Air Navigator CD RequirementsThe AirStation wireless router and access point works with most wired and wireless devices. The automaticinstallationprogramontheCDrequiresWindows7,VistaorXPtorun.ClientManagersoftwareisincludedforWindows7,VistaandXP.TheuseofotheroperatingsystemsmayrequirethattheAirStationbemanuallyconfiguredfromabrowserwindow.

150 Mbps High Speed Mode150MbpsisthelinkspeedofWCR-GNwhenusingWireless-Nmode.Itrepresentsactualwirelessdata speeds, including overhead. Because the overhead is not available for user data transfer, usable wireless throughput will be substantially slower.

HolddownthisbuttonuntiltheSecurityLEDflashes(about 1second),whiletheunit’spowerison,initiatesAOSS/WPS mode, allowing the unit to exchange security keys with AOSS or WPS compatible devices.

7 Launchawebbrowser.Ifthe“home”setupscreenisdisplayed,setupiscomplete.Ifausernameandpasswordscreenaredisplayed,enter"root"(inlowercase)fortheusername,leavethepasswordblank,andclick“OK”. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete setup.

WDS SetupToextendWirelesscoverage,addanewAirstationtoanexistingWirelessnetwork.InstallthenewAirStation between the existing Wireless AP and wireless devices by using WDS feature.

Refer to the following procedure to set up WDS connection.

1 InserttheCDintoyourPCandfollowtheinstructionsonthescreen.

2 Whenthebelowscreenappears,click“Start”andfollowtheinstructiononthescreenbyclicking“Next“.

4 Whenthebelowscreenappears,click“WDS Setup”.ThewizardwillguideyouthroughconnectionandLED’smeanings.



5 Whenthebelowscreenappears,select“AOSS configuration”or“Manual Configuration“from“SelectWDSSetupmethod“.AirStation will attempt to connect to other wireless AP to set up WDS.

IfthetargetwirelessAPistheAirStationthatsupportsWDS,select“AOSS configuration” and push AOSS button on the target AP.

IfthetargetAPisnottheAirStation,select“Manual Configuration“thenclick“Scan for SSID“.AlistofavailablewirelessAPwillbegenerated.SelectthetargetAP’sSSIDfromthe listandclick“Next“tocontinuewithsecurityinformationsettings.

6 Step through the wizard to complete the setup.

Ifyou’veselected“AOSS configuration“duringthesetup,theexistingAOSSconnectionbetween the target wireless AP and computers has been disconnected. Set up AOSS connectionagain(page77).

9 Check"Use"optionandselect"Manual"fromthe"Connection type".Click"Search"



10 AlistofavailablewirelessAPswillbegenerated.SelectthetargetAPandclick"Select".Click"Search again"ifnoAPsarefound.

Chapter 4 Configuration

This chapter explains the advanced settings for the AirStation. To change advanced settings, use the AirStation'sweb-basedconfigurationutility.

How to Access the Web-Based Configuration UtilityTodisplaytheconfigurationoftheAirStation,followtheprocedurebelow.

Launchawebbrowser.

Entertherouter’sLAN-sideIPaddressintheaddressfield,andpressthe"Enter"key.

Note: ･TheAirStation’sdefaultLAN-sideIPaddressdependsonitsmodesetting. Inroutermode:192.168.11.1 Inbridgemode:192.168.11.100 ･IfyouchangetheIPaddressofthisunit,usethenewIPaddress.

Whenthisscreenappears,enter“root” (in lower case) for the user name and the password that you set during initial setup. Click“OK”.

Note: ･ By default, the password is blank (not set). ･Ifyouforgetyourpassword,holddown

the Reset button (page 11) to initialize all settings. The password will then be blank.

Note that all other settings will also revert to their default values.

PPPoE (Router Mode only)ThescreentoconfigurePPPoEsettings.

Parameter Meaning

NameofConnection Enter the name to identify the connected destination. You may enter up to 32 alphanumerical characters and symbols.

User Name Settheusernamewhichisspecifiedbyyourprovider,usedforaPPPoEcertification.Youmayenterupto32alphanumericalcharacters and symbols.

Password SetthepasswordspecifiedbyyourproviderforPPPoEcertification.You may enter up to 32 alphanumerical characters and symbols.

Service Name FillinthisfieldonlywhenyourproviderspecifiesaServiceName.Leaveblankotherwise.Youmayenterupto32alphanumericalcharacters and symbols.

ConnectionType SpecifiesthetimingfortheAirStationtoconnecttoyourprovider.



Parameter Meaning

Automatic disconnection Sets the timer for disconnection if the connection method is set to“ConnectonDemand”or“Manual”.Youcanenterupto1440minutes.

Authorization Configureanauthorizationmethodwithaprovider.

MTU Size ConfigureMTUvalueintherangeof578to1492,whichisusedforcommunication on PPPoE.

MRU size ConfigureMRU(MaximumReceiveUnit)valueintherangeof578to1492,whichisusedforcommunicationonPPPoE.

KeepAlive TheAirStationwillrequestLCPechotothePPPserveronceinaminute.Internetconnectionwillbeautomaticallycutoffiftheconnectionserverdoesnotrespondformorethan6minutes.Disable this function if the PPP connection is cut at short intervals.

Answer:Logintothewirelessrouterwithyourbrowser.GototheWirelessConfigtabandthenselecttheBasictabifnecessary.FindthesettingsareacalledSSID.Selectthe"Use"checkboxandenterthenameyouwishtouseforyournetworkinthetextfieldprovided.Click"Apply"tosavethesettings.Once the wireless router has rebooted, you will need to manually select the new network name for all wireless devices and enter your encryption key if necessary.

Answer:There are many environmental factors that may affect this behavior. First, ensure the issue is not range related by locating the wireless router and the device dropping connection in closer proximity and check whether the connection drops continue.Insomecases,interferencefromotherwirelessnetworksorsourcessuchas2.4GHzwirelessphonesmay impact performance.
