ServSafe® Training
ServSafe® training programs have been
recognized and accepted by more federal, state
and local jurisdictions than any other food safety
education and training program for nearly 40 years.
ServSafe® was developed by the National
Restaurant Association, and is a respected training
and education program throughout the State of
Michigan.
The Michigan Food law requires all food service
establishments to have at least one manager
certified in food safety. Managers with the
ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification
meet this requirement.

Manager Certification
After attending the course and passing an exam with a score of 75% or above, you will receive a certificate verifying that you are a certified ServSafe® Food Protection Manager.
Language Options
Our ServSafe® classes are taught in English. We offer ServSafe® Course exams written in English, Spanish, Chinese and Korean. Please let us know if you will be taking an exam other than English.

8-Hour ServSafe® Manager Training
MSU Extension offers 8-hour ServSafe® training, which is a national certification program. This class is designed for anyone working in the food service industry, including non-profit organizations. Participants must receive a 75% score on the exam to earn a certificate.
Registration Information The cost of the 8 hour course is $75 per person and does not include the cost of the ServSafe® Manager 7th edition book. Textbook Requirement - Must Purchase separately. You must have a ServSafe® Manager 7th edition book that contains an answer sheet to take the class and the exam. Please order your book and read before attending class. After registering for this class you will receive a confirmation message that includes the instructions on how to purchase a ServSafe® 7th edition book and includes an answer sheet. Instructors Classes are taught by MSU Extension educators, who are certified instructors and exam proctors through the National Restaurant Association.
