PRESIDENT’S REPORT
A very large thank you to those who responded to my request for help in digitizing U3A’s mountain of paper records. Fock Lee has agreed to head up this process and will be in contact with all those volunteers in the near future. After significant discussion it has been decided not to alter the current system of roll marking for the foreseeable future. Whilst the current system has its challenges new systems that were discussed raise different challenges. Next year we celebrate 35 years of service to the senior communities of the areas we serve. The committee has agreed that, to help celebrate this special occasion, we would like to invite a guest speaker to address the Annual General Meeting which will be held on Tuesday March 17, 2020. We are seeking advice from our members as to appropriate people to approach. If you have friends, relatives, acquaintances, people you have heard elsewhere etc. etc who you think may be appropriate, please leave a note in the President’s in-tray in the office with contact details and areas that they may cover in a presentation. Thanks to a bequest from a former member we are able to provide limited funds for travel and accommodation if required.

Individual Absences entered Online by a member
as per the May Newsletter. The Committee have now decided that an individual entering their absence online will not be an efficient way of recording absences for our U3A at this stage. They will let us know when/if the members should use it again. Members still need to apologise by phone or in person, as has been the current practice
Name Tags Please collect your name tag from the U3A Office and wear it every time you are here. There are still quite a number waiting to be collected.
We are no longer printing out new name tags each year. The new blue ones do not have a year date on them.

OPERATIONAL DATES 2019 That’s Not My Job This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realised that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have. Sent in by Robert Taylor

Spills in the Kitchen Accidental kitchen spillages are part of life, but in our homes we would clean them up as soon as they happen. A couple of weeks ago, a sizeable quantity of spilled coffee granules were left all over the kitchen bench and along the floor. For members who used the kitchen afterwards, it was like walking on the beach. The office staff understand if you are unable to clean up your spill, but please ask them for help as soon as it happens. Thanks.
