Pomegranate Place
Art work facilitated by Karen and Gary Scott
December 2012
The Pomegranate tree, depicted in the mural, reflects the history of growth of the Centre
and symbolises:
Fertility encouraging and nourishing creativity
Marriage commitment; the joining of ideas and cultures
Prosperity community enrichment through empowering participants
Safety a nurturing place to learn, meet and express
The Chocolate Lily, on the curved seat, was the native floral emblem of Waverley and is
also depicted in the stained glass windows at the Centre and planted around the seat.
The flowing water design represents both the Centre’s past as the Mt Waverley Reservoir
caretaker’s cottage and its future as the community’s wellspring for inspiration, knowledge
and achievement.
WCLC acknowledges the support of the Victorian Government.
