LODGE LORE Some time ago we explored the origins of the 11 O’Clock Toast and versions of it that
have been created over the years. I’d like to share my personal favorite. The Jolly Corks Toast
And now the 11th hour, when Elkdoms tower is dark with the shroud of night. When Father Time on his silvery chime tolls off the moments flight.
In their hallowed halls each Elk recalls, the members where ere they may be. And traces their faces to well known places, in the annals of memory.
And whether they stand on a foreign land, or lie in their earthen bed. Or whether they be on the deep blue sea, with breakers of death ahead.
Whatever their plight in the eerie night, whatever their fate may be. Wherever they are, whether near or far, they are thinking of you and of me. So drink from the cup of fellowship, to those who have clasped your hand.
Who have carved your worth on the rocks of earth, and traced your faults in the sand. To our absent members!

A Message From the
June is on track to be another great month for our Lodge, and we are looking to keep moving steadily back to “normal”. It has been great to get our Friday night dinners going again and the Bar and Restaurant Committee is working closely with our partner The Ugly Mug to provide this excellent service for our members. Also, as with every June, we will be hosting our Flag Day Ceremony on Monday June 14th at 6:00PM. Leading Knight Solomon King is working diligently to pull together all of the preparations for this moving presentation. If you didn’t know, the Elks were the first to celebrate Flag Day and designated June 14th as Flag Day in 1907! If you are available, please take the time to join us for this event. I am extremely happy to report that during our first Initiation meeting for this Lodge year, we initiated 12 new members to our wonderful organization! I would like to thank all of the members that sponsored, also those that joined us during the initiation meeting to show support for our new members. So, if you see a new face around the Lodge, please greet them with our famous Elks hospitality and ask them if they'd like to help on a committee! Speaking of membership, if you (or someone you know) hasn’t paid their dues at this time, please make sure to help satisfy that process. As you all know my saying from my time as Treasurer, “ask two friends to ask two friends”. This will help to ensure the continued success and strength of our Lodge. I am also happy to report that during our Spring Convention, PER Bruce Conard was elected to position of VP – Northeast Region; looking forward to working with Bruce, as well as all of our members that hold State positions throughout this Lodge year. As we all know, these State level committee and other positions require a significant time commitment, so a special big, Thank You!! to all our members serving. As we move into the summer months, please keep an eye on our Facebook page and other communication channels (website, texting, signage, etc.) for additional upcoming events. Don’t forget, as mentioned last month, please feel free to reach out if you would like a walk through of Social Media or to get signed up for our text messag-
News from the
Last month I wrote of bad and good times coming to the Lodge. Happily, this month is mostly good. Like most businesses, the loosening of COVID restrictions has led to more use of the Lodge. Scott and Debbie Waldhart are conducting trivia nights, Char-lie’s Hideaway seems to be popular, and we are seeing more interest in joining our Lodge. On March 6 we initiated 12 new mem-bers meaning we had over 40 members attend the meeting, a number we have not seen in a while. In addition, we have 4 waiting for initiation. Moreover, we are attracting younger members. I have also received a request for a transfer from the Stevens Point Lodge. We met our goal for ENF contributions, meaning we are eligible for grants through the state, and our indebtedness contin-ues to shrink. I have heard it said that some members do not use the Lodge because they are tired of hearing of the financial doom and gloom. That excuse can no longer be used. There is one item of financial concern: those delinquent in their dues payments. To date, 83 member have not paid dues for this Lodge year, meaning the treasury is short the $2075 we are required to pay Grand Lodge and State. Please pay your dues soon.
