Put your hands together for Waukesha’s cultural cornerstone, the Waukesha Civic Theatre, serving this community for more than 55 years!!!! We are bringing you a new season of hands-on entertainment, with some exciting changes, and additional subscriber benefits.

First of all, we hope you like the new brochure format. Please use this calendar at home, at work, or at play to keep track of everything we have to offer.

We are thrilled to present a brand new eight-show subscription package and a WCT Subscriber Benefits Card that will give you even more savings as you continue to find ways to enrich your soul – all in downtown Waukesha! As you can see from our very busy calendar, we have lots of entertainment options every single month all year long, and our subscribers receive discounted prices to everything we do, even for shows not included in your original subscriber package! Our subscribers save at least 21%, and in some cases up to 40%, over the regular ticket price. We present more than 25 artistic events over 40 weeks of the year, including our Mainstage shows, our ACT shows and classes, our ACAP PlayMakers shows, our Random Acts of Entertainment, and our Art Gallery.

There are a lot of opportunities to get involved and support live theatre at WCT. You can be a patron, a donor, a student, and/or an actor, or you can volunteer in a variety of capacities. Donations can be made in a number of ways: monetary gifts to the operating fund, the capital fund, or the endowment fund; material donations (ask about our wish list!); and planned giving arrangements that allow you to make a lasting contribution to WCT. Visit our website for more information on auditions and all of the other exciting things happening at WCT, including our Loop System for patrons with hearing loss and our interactive online ticketing system!

Last season we began to use QR codes - one of the first theatres in the Milwaukee area to embrace this new technology, and we are continuing to do so this year. These codes are designed to be read by your internet-capable smartphone. Scan these codes to get up-to-date info about our shows, including cast lists, show photos, reviews, and how to purchase tickets online. You can get a free QR code reader app

from the iTunes App Store, Blackberry App World, or Android Market.

We have a 55-year tradition that is still going strong. More than 400 members of our community are involved in our organization as volunteers, contributing 20,000 hours to Waukesha’s cultural cornerstone. We are proud of our theatre, proud of our community, and proud to present our 56th season.

See you at the theatre, and come early to enjoy a glass of wine or a bottle of beer.

John CramerManaging Artistic Director

WCT projects are supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin

OCTOBER

OCTOBER 26 - NOVEMBER 11, 2012 • COMIC DRAMA

Our Town explores the lives of young Emily Webb and George Gibbs, along with their families and neighbors, in Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire. This Pulitzer Prize-winning classic reveals the big moments in a small town: Life. Love and Marriage. Death and Eternity. Like Emily, you’ll discover the importance of experiencing life as you live it – “every, every minute.” Written by a Wisconsin native, Our Town remains as engaging today as when it first captivated audiences in 1938.

THE STEM ACADEMY PRESENTS

JANUARY

It takes a talented group of students to write, produce, and

perform a sketch comedy show. It takes an outrageously talented

group to do it all in only two weeks! Come out and support this outstanding and hilarious

WCT tradition and see what the next generation of sketch comedy

looks like. Auditions will be held at WCT on Monday, 12/17/2012.

“I can see that you’ve got quite a mind for your age! Why, one Think and you dragged me right onto the stage!

Now, I’m here, there is no telling what may ensue with a Cat such as me, and a Thinker like you!”

So says the mischievous Cat in the Hat at the onset of this fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza. Ahrens and

Flaherty have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, Gertrude

McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, and all the Whos of Whoville.

Combat Boot Camp challenges high school-aged playwrights, directors, and actors to bring original scripts from initial concept

to performance before a live audience – IN ONLY 4 DAYS! Topics, locations, directors, and actors are all, literally, pulled from a hat.

There is no advanced preparation, no warning, no mercy – just instinct, ability, and raw talent on display.

To enlist in Boot Camp, contact Jim Fletcher at [email protected]. Registration begins September 1, 2012.

MAY 3 - 19, 2013 • COMEDYFive Southern women, friends since the days of their college swim team, gather every year in a cottage on the Atlantic Ocean. In four weekends spanning 33 years, we see Sheree, Dinah, Lexie, Jeri, and Vernadette drink martinis, eat biscuits, laugh, cry, and swim their way through celebrations, tough times, and a few surprises. Because while careers, waistlines, and even marriages may disappear, real friendships last a lifetime – or five.

With her own life at risk from Reece’s business partner Julian, Poopay escapes through a communicating door, only to meet Reece’s second wife, who is very much alive – but in 1994. Poopay races between 1974, 1994, and 2014 to save the two wives and herself. It’s a story that will keep you guessing and laughing until its surprising finish.

APRIL 12-16, 2013 • MUSICAL COMEDYThis parody of the classic tale of trickery and vanity deals with peer pressure and individuali-ty as Emperor Trump encounters two charlatans who exploit his weaknesses. While all the king’s horses and all the king’s men are swept up in courting the king’s favor, it takes one voice from an unexpected source to teach us to “do what’s right, because it’s right.”

OCTOBER 12-14, 2012 • COMEDYA magical peach! Giant insects! An incredible journey! This amazing adventure of James Henry Trotter will satisfy anyone who has dreamed of escape. Roald Dahl’s hilarious story comes to life on stage as it reveals the wickedness of some, the goodness of others, and the indecision encountered by many when they are faced with crises. The ACAP PlayMak-ers share this fantastic tale through the use of larger than life puppets, inclusive choreogra-phy, and interaction with the audience.
