Water Requirement of cultivars under aerobic and t l t d diti d i Kh if 2007transplanted conditions during Kharif 2007,

ANGRAU, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad

Salient observations:1. The available cultivars/varieties developed for transplanted andrainfed upland conditions and hybrids perform better both underp y paerobic (4.07-4.57 t/ha) and transplanted conditions (3.68-4.6 t/ha).Hence, there is a need to evaluate suitability of some of popularvarieties for aerobic condition.2. Around 200 mm of rainfall during kharif can be effectively utilizedfor rice production in aerobic rice.3. There was a saving of 31-37 percent of water under aerobic

diti d t t l t d diticondition as compared to transplanted condition4. The water productivity is higher in aerobic rice than that oftransplanted rice5 The aerobic rice can be successfully adopted in paddy grown areas5. The aerobic rice can be successfully adopted in paddy grown areasunder wells and canals by adopting proper varieties

demonstrations, 2008-09 to 2012

Under this project training programmes on water management is being given for farmers and officers of line departments.and officers of line departments.These training programmes are being organized in 21 centres including Water Technology CentreTechnology Centre.Five year programme each year 1000 farmers and 100 trainers is being trained.
