WATER CRISIS

“Prediction of 3 r d world war”

Page 3: WATER CRISIS “Prediction of 3rd world war”

• The land to water ratio of earth is about 70% water, 30% land. Water is vital for all known forms of life. Now if water is considered to be 30% and land to be 70% in the present scenario all of a sudden, we are going to find a remarkable change.

• Due to the rise in population demands of water also rise up.• The water was not sufficient to fulfill the demands of people

WHAT IS WATER CRISIS?

A Water Crisis is a situation where the available portable , unpolluted water within a region is

less than that region’s demand.

CAUSES

Of wat

er

crisis

Page 6: WATER CRISIS “Prediction of 3rd world war”

There are several manifestations of the water crisis.

Inadequate access to safe drinking water for about 884 million

people.Inadequate access to sanitation for 2.5 billion people, which often

leads to water pollution.Groundwater over drafting (excessive use) leading to diminished

agricultural yieldsOveruse and pollution of water resources harming biodiversity

Regional conflicts over scarce water resources sometimes

resulting in warfare

Water provides the Earth with the capacity of

supporting life. Water has always been

perceived as a gift from the god as it rained from the

heavens. Water has played a role not

only in the history of countries, but in religion,

mythology, and art. Water is our lifeline that

feeds us. In ancient cultures water represented the very

essence of life.

place in Bolivia's third largest city, between December 1999 and April 2000 in response to the privatization of the city's

municipal water supply company “Semapa”.

Page 12: WATER CRISIS “Prediction of 3rd world war”

How they suffer?

Page 13: WATER CRISIS “Prediction of 3rd world war”

The Government's reply was that "There is nothing to

negotiate”.

•  On February 42,000, thousands marching in protest were met by troops.

History Of Water

Management

Page 17: WATER CRISIS “Prediction of 3rd world war”

In ancient times, houses in parts of western

Rajasthan were built so that each had a rooftop

water harvesting system. Rainwater from these

rooftops was directed into underground tanks. This system can be seen even

today in all the forts, palaces and houses of the

region.

Water scarcity in india

Page 19: WATER CRISIS “Prediction of 3rd world war”

• Saurashtra had been seeing consecutive drought years in the 1980s. In 1986, it rained a bit, but far from enough. By February 1986, all the sources of water in Rajkot, the biggest city of Saurashtra with a population of around five lakh then, had almost dried up.

• “We had no option but to look outside for water,” says Janak Kotak, a BJP leader

Page 20: WATER CRISIS “Prediction of 3rd world war”

States like Punjab are squabbling over ownership of river waters.

In water-scarce Orissa, farmers have reportedly breached embankment Back in Farakka, villagers are washing clothes in the shallow waters of the power station canal and children are crossing by foot.

Thousands of villagers in drought-hit region of

Maharashtra depend on tankers for water.

What can be done to bring back ground water levels in

India?

Page 22: WATER CRISIS “Prediction of 3rd world war”

• Ground water is limited in India and it is soon being depleted. On account of water crisis, farmers have been using a tremendous amount of such water for their crops. Bringing back ground water level is a natural phenomenon.

• Preserve the Lakes and Forest and populate them. Population should be managed.

• Less pressure on resources can be kept .

Prime Minister Narendra Modi

On Sunday Called For Water

Conservation Through A Mass Movement And

Appealed To Farmers And Villagers To

Adopt Innovative Methods

To Conserve Scarce

Resources.

Page 25: WATER CRISIS “Prediction of 3rd world war”

The PM said the village has also adopted sprinklers, drip irrigation, water harvesting and water recharging methods in a big way.

“Rain water should be preserved”

Turning to efforts to clean Ganga, he said, "This task (of cleaning Ganga) can never succeed without people's participation and we all have to become an agent of change in this."

International discussions on water crises

• After 10 years, we’re finally at the end of the UN Water for Life Decade 2005-2015. Since 2005, we have been managing complexity on a global scale. Interactions have increased exponentially thanks to social media and the Internet; but we can’t help but regret the missed opportunities. There were many. And now we have a full stop.

Page 27: WATER CRISIS “Prediction of 3rd world war”

Why Do We Need Water Management

• We all know water is the most precious resource among all. Today we all are facing the biggest problem that is scarcity of water drinking water as the level of water is continually decreasing. In many countries people die because of contaminated water as they do not have any water resources that contain pure water.

“The wars of the twenty-first century will be fought over

water”

Page 29: WATER CRISIS “Prediction of 3rd world war”

The future Prediction

At the current consumption rate, this situation will only get worse. By 2025,

two-thirds of the world’s population may face water shortages. And ecosystems around the world will suffer even more.

Page 30: WATER CRISIS “Prediction of 3rd world war”

Save Water For Future GenerationSave water, save

life!Water crisis is one of the major issues that

the world is facing and it is the

responsibility, perhaps the duty of each one of us to

contribute towards water management. Intelligent utilization of water resources is the need of the hour.

Page 31: WATER CRISIS “Prediction of 3rd world war”

• Water being one of the most essential necessity of life, becoming an increasing scare resource, needs careful planning and management.

• The need of the hour is sustainable water management, specially in the context of meeting the demands of an increasing population.

Page 32: WATER CRISIS “Prediction of 3rd world war”

What Scientist Appeal ?

Page 33: WATER CRISIS “Prediction of 3rd world war”

• Already a billion people, or one in seven people on the planet, lack access to safe drinking water. Britain, of course, is currently at the other extreme. Great swaths of the country are drowning in misery, after a series of Atlantic storms off the south-western coast. But that too is part of the picture that has been coming into sharper focus over 12 years of the Grace satellite record. Countries at northern latitudes and in the tropics are getting wetter. But those countries at mid-latitude are running increasingly low on water.
