WATER CONSERVATION

Page 3: Water conservation...Save Water

What is Water Conservation?

Water conservation is a practice in which people, companies, and governments attempt to reduce their water usage.

How Much Water Can Humans and Animals Drink?

Well your bound to find out…NOW! 97 % of water is salt water

2 % is fresh water that has been frozen in glaciers, icebergs and ice caps

Less than 1 % of the earth’s water, is water that animals and humans can drink

WHY CONSERVE WATER?

Water is essential to life on earth. We need water to grow food, keep clean, provide power, control fire, and last but not least, we need it to stay alive!

Page 6: Water conservation...Save Water

IF WATER IS CONSTANTLY BEING CLEANED AND RECYCLED THROUGH THE EARTH’S WATER CYCLE, WHY DO

WE NEED TO CONSERVE IT?

The answer is that people use up our planet’s fresh water faster than it can naturally be replenished.

Farmers' suicides in Indiafor water crisis

These top five states account for 89% of all farmer suicides in the country in 2014. With a hard year ahead, those figures are unlikely to

improve.India is facing the worst water crisis in a decade with 91 major reservoirs having no more than 29% water, India Spend reported recently. Jayakwadi dam in Aurangabad district in Marathwada, which is witnessing the worst drought in a century, has only 1% water left of its 2.17 billion cubic metre capacity, India Spend reported in January.

As many as 246 districts in ten states across the country have already been declared drought-affected in 2015-16, according to this Lok Sabah reply on March 10, 2016. The Maharashtra government recently declared 11,962 villages in Vidarbha as drought-affected, according to this Mint report. So 27,723 villages of 43,000 Maharashtra villages in the state are drought-hit.

STEPS FOR CONSERVING INDOOR WATER IN GENERAL

Page 12: Water conservation...Save Water

1-Save water from your taps: Turn the faucet/tap off while you are brushing your teeth, shaving, washing your hands, doing dishes, and so on. Turn the tap off when you shower, too. Get wet, then turn off the water while you soap up. Turn it back on for long enough to rinse.

2-Check your plumbing for leaks, especially leaking toilets and faucets. Fix anything you find leaking. A silent toilet leak could waste from 30 to 500 gallons every day!

3.SIMPLE WAYS TO CONSERVE WATER

• When washing dishes by hand, don't let the water run while rinsing. Fill one sink with wash water and the other with rinse water.

• Run your clothes washer and dishwasher only when they are full. You can save up to 1,000 gallons a month.

4.SIMPLE WAYS TO CONSERVE WATERSome refrigerators, air conditioners and ice-makers are cooled with wasted flows of water. Consider upgrading with air-cooled appliances for significant water savings.Adjust sprinklers so only your lawn is watered and not the house, sidewalk, or street.

5.Simple Ways To Conserve WaterWater your lawn and garden in the morning or evening when temperatures are cooler to minimize evaporation.Wash your fruits and vegetables in a pan of water instead of running water from the tap.

NEARLY A HAPPY ENDING

Well, it’s NEARLY a happy ending!

If, you spread the news then you won’t be

the only one conserving. Many other

people will be interested. Then, they will

spread the news, and so on.
