Know Your Watering Days Fact Sheet Water Conservation Ordinance Did you know that about 40% of all drinking water in Los Angeles is used for landscape irrigation? The City of Los Angeles Water Conservation Ordinance currently in effect helps city residents and businesses conserve precious potable water. Sprinkler Use Restrictions Outdoor watering with sprinklers is restricted to three days a week with different watering days assigned to odd-numbered and even-numbered street addresses. • Customers with odd-numbered street addresses – ending in 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9 – are allowed to use their sprinkler systems on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. • Customers with even-numbered street addresses – ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8 – are allowed to use their sprinkler systems on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. • Watering with sprinklers is limited to one cycle of up to 8 minutes per station per watering day for non- conserving nozzle sprinkler systems (typical residential system), or two 15-minute cycles per watering day for conserving nozzle sprinkler systems. • All outdoor watering is prohibited from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., regardless of the watering day. Street addresses ending in fractions are treated as whole numbers and observe the same day restrictions as others on their same side of the street (i.e.: 4321 ½ is regarded as 4321, an odd-numbered address.) Other Prohibited Water Uses • Watering of any hard surfaces such as sidewalks, walkways, driveways or parking areas; • Outdoor watering during periods of rain; • Allowing runoff onto streets and gutters from excessive watering; • Allowing leaks from any pipe or fixture to go unrepaired; • Washing vehicles without using a hose with a self-closing water shut-off nozzle; and • Serving water to customers in restaurants unless specifically requested. ¿Sabía usted que aproximadamente 40% del agua potable en Los Angeles es usado para irrigación de ajardinamiento? La Ordenanza de Conservación de Agua de Los Angeles que actualmente está en efecto le ayuda a residentes y negocios a conservar nuestra preciosa agua potable.

Restricciones Para el Uso de RociadoresRegar al aire libre con rociadores es restringido a tres días por semana con diferentes días asignados a domicilios pares e impares.• Clientes con domicilios que terminan en un número impar – 1, 3, 5, 7, o 9 – son permitidos usar sus sistemas

de rociadores los lunes, miércoles y viernes. • Clientes con domicilios que terminan en un número par – 0, 2, 4, 6, o 8 – son permitidos usar sus sistemas de

rociadores los martes, jueves y domingos.• Regar con rociadores de spray o burbujeantes, cuales son modelos no-conservadoras y comunes en la

mayoría de residencias, se permite hasta 8 minutos en cada estación cada día de irrigación asignado. Clientes con sistemas con rociadores rotatorios, cuales son conservadoras de agua, pueden regar en dos ciclos de 15 minutos en cada estación cada día de irrigación asignado.

• Regar al aire libre es prohibido entre las 9:00 a.m. y 4:00 p.m., aun en días de irrigación.

Domicilios que terminan en fracción son considerados números enteros y observarán las mismas restricciones que otros domicilios en el mismo lado de la calle (ej: 4321 ½ es considerado ser 4321, un domicilio de número impar).

Otros Usos de Agua Prohibidos• Usar agua para limpiar superficies sólidas como aceras, senderos, entradas de coche, o áreas de estacionamiento;• Regar al aire libre durante tiempos de lluvia;• Permitir escurrimientos en la calle o cuneta como resultado de riego exceso;• Permitir que goteras en tubería u otros aparatos fijos continúen sin reparo;• Lavar vehículos con una manguera sin una válvula de cierre automático; y • Servir agua a clientes en restaurantes a menos que sea pedida.
