ruralvillagesthetaskofcollecng
waterfallsonthewomenandchildren.
Themeconsumingtaskofcollecng
watereffecvelykeepswomenoutof
workandchildrenoutofschool.In
Africaalone,40Billionhoursare
wastedeachyearonthetaskof
collecngwater.
EducationDirtywaterandpoorsanitaonisa
majorcauseofdiseaseandthishasa
directimpactonacademicenrollment.
UNICEFesmatesapproximately443
millionschooldaysarelosteveryyear
becausepupilsandteachersaredown
withpreventablediseasesratherthan
inschoolstudyingforabeerfuture.
Addionally,thephysicallystrenuous
andmeconsumingtaskofcollecng
waterforcesmillionofchildrentoskip
school.
EconomyWhenacommunityspendsmostofits
mecollecngwaterandfallingill,
verylilemeisleforproducve
economicacvity.
Lackofwateralsodepriveshouseholds
fromconnuingtradionalagriculture
acvity,whichwouldhaveensured
self-sustainabilityandreducedthe
burdenoffoodcost.
Familiesoenspendupto11%oftheir
householdincometopurchasewater
fromsmallscalewatervendors.
