BSC’s online Water & Wastewater Technology program is designed for employment in water and wastewater treatment facilities. Incumbent employees may also earn continuing education units (CEUs) depending on their location. Water operators manage equipment and systems that treat, supply, and transfer potable (drinking) water and industrial water to consumers. Wastewater operators manage the treatment process of converting municipal or industrial wastewater into clean water that can be safely discharged back into the environment. Operators apply biological, chemical, and mechanical principals to operate water and wastewater treatment facilities, perform laboratory testing and analyses, and recognize the critical responsibilities they have regarding health, safety and the environment. Students in this program attend online training for two semesters and participate in an industry-based internship or attend BSC for required hands- on lab exercises.
