Washington is one of the 50 United States of

America

Washington is a state in the Pacific

Northwest region of the United States located

north of Oregon west of Idaho and south of

the Canadian province of British Columbia on the

coast of the Pacific Ocean.

The state of Washington has almost 14,000

hectares of vineyards. Two-third of vineyards

The state is famous because its white wine made

because the merlot wine has an aroma of berry

and cabernet sauvignon whose fruit are amazing .

COLUMBIA VALLEY

This is the largest vineyards of the region. This

region takes up 7 regions more. It received its

designation in 1984, and has more than 16,000

vineyard acres and 100 wineries.

Specialties: chardonnay, riesling, cabernet

PUGET SOUND

This region close to Seattle. There are over

100 wineries here, but only 130 vineyard

acres. A lot of wineries bought grapes of

This place has a lot of wineries because

Columbia Gorge teep cliffs whose a

temperature- moderating river and volcanic

soil have proven a hospitable and good

vineyard acres and about 15 wineries.

riesling, pinot gris, pinot noir and

This was the state's first American

Viticultural Area, established in 1983. There

are 11,000 vineyard acres and more than 65

wineries.

Specialties: chardonnay, riesling, merlot,

WALLA WALLA VALLEY

Walla Walla is more interesting because the

and over 100 wineries.

RED MOUNTAIN

It was creating in 2001. Red Mountain is

Washington's smallest wine area in terms of

the number of wineries. It has a 700

vineyards acres.

syrah, lemberger, malbec, cabernet franc

Horse Heaven Hills is in south-central

Washington, tucked in under the Yakima

Valley and extending down towards the

Columbia Gorge.

wineries.

syrah, riesling, chardonnay and sauvignon

blanc.

It accounts for about 20 percent production

of grape in the state.

SNIPES MOUNTAIN

It's in the Yakima Valley wine area, just

below Rattlesnake Hills, and it's small.

There's only one winery here, Upland Estates,

and just 665 vineyard acres, but the diversity

in such a small space is impressive because

there are a 30 different wine varieties are

grown here.

LAKE CHELAN

Lake Chelan became an American

Viticultural Area (AVA) in 2009.

The lake for which the area is named

moderates the temperature in the area, and

there are now 15 wineries here and some 260

vineyard acres.

Specialties: Syrah, Merlot, Malbec, Riesling,

Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay,

and Pinot Noir.
