Romans 2: 1-21 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.2But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit suchthings.QuestionsWho, again, is writing the book of Romans? PaulWho is he writing it to?The church at RomeQuestionWho made up the church at Rome?Gentiles & Jews

Romans 2: 1(KJV)Therefore Paul now makes a transition from the Gentiles to the Jews.(Greek- diowherefore, on account off)

Romans 1: 18-1918For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;19because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath sheweditunto them.Romans 2Modern English Version (MEV)

1 Therefore you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judges, for when you judge another, you condemn yourself, for you who judge do the same things.2But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who commit such things.Them vs YouRomans Chapter 1- ThemRomans Chapter 2- YouPaul is talking about the Gentiles in general in Ch. 1In Ch. 2, the you are the JewsJudgement of God

What is judgment?the sentence of a judgethe punishment with which one is sentenced(Greek- krima)

Romans 2: 1-2 (AMP)2Therefore you have no excuseor defenseorjustification, O man, whoever you are who judgesand condemns another. For in posing as judgeandpassing sentence on another, you condemn yourself, because you who judge are habitually practicing the very same things [that you censure and denounce].2[But] we know that the judgment (adverse verdict, sentence) of God falls justlyandin accordance with truth upon those who practice such things.

What is truth?John 14:6-Jesus saith unto him, I Am The Way, The Truth, and The Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.(Greek- altheia)

Romans 2: 3-43And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? 4Or despisest thou the riches of His goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?Romans 2: 3 (Amp)3And do you thinkorimagine, O man, when you judgeandcondemn those who practice such things and yet do them yourself, that you will escape Gods judgmentandelude His sentenceandadverse verdict?Romans 2: 4 (MEV)4Do you despise the riches of His goodness, tolerance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?Romans 2: 4 (Amp)4Or are you [so blind as to] trifle with andpresume uponanddespiseand underestimate the wealth of His kindness and forbearance and long-suffering patience? Are you unmindful oractually ignorant [of the fact] that Gods kindness is intended to lead you to repent (to change your mind and inner man to accept Gods will)?QuestionWhat is the goodness of God? Questions or CommentsRomans 2: 5-95but after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;6who will render to every man according to his deeds:7to them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:8but unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,9tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

Romans 2: 10-1110but glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:11for there is no respect of persons with God.Romans 2:12-1312For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;13(for not the hearers of the lawarejust before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.Romans 2:14-1614For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:15which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, andtheirthoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)16in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.Romans 2:17-2017Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,18and knowesthiswill, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;19and art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,20an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.Romans 2:21-2421Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?22Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?23thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?24For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.

Romans 2:25-2925For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.26Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?27And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?28For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neitheris thatcircumcision, which is outward in the flesh:29but heisa Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcisionis thatof the heart, in the spirit,andnot in the letter; whose praiseisnot of men, but of God.
