3 Getting started
3.1 Connect the basestation
CautionAvoid placing the base stationtoo close to large metalobjects such as filing cabinets,radiators or electricalappliances.This can impair therange and sound quality.Buildings with thick internaland external walls may impairtransmission of signals to andfrom the base.
WarningPower is applied when thepower adaptor is plugged intothe unit and connected to theelectricity socket.The only wayto power down the unit is tounplug the power adaptor fromthe electricity socket.Therefore,ensure that the electricitysocket is easily accessible.
The power adaptor and thetelephone line cord have to beconnected correctly, asincorrect connection coulddamage the unit.
Always use the telephone linecord supplied with the unit.Otherwise, you may not get adial tone.
Insert the plug of the powercord into the socket at thebottom of the base station.

Charge the handset for at least24 hours before using it for thefirst time.When the battery is fullycharged, the talk time of yourCD145 is approximately 12hours and the standby time isapproximately 120 hours.

3.4 Configure yourphone
Before using your CD145, youneed to configure it accordingto the country of use.Depending on your country,country selection screen maynot appear. In that case, you donot need to select the countrycode to configure your phone.After charging it for a fewminutes, the country codeselection screen appears.Follow these steps to configureyour phone:

6.10 How to screen anincoming call
You can listen through thespeaker while your answeringmachine takes a call.This letsyou identify the caller anddecide whether to take the callor not. Once you press topick up the call, the recordingwill stop automatically.Five speaker volume levels areavailable. In idle mode, press
