Accomplishments:

• Built the city of Memphis (Capital)

Khufu

Goal: To have the greatest tomb ever.

Cause:

• 30 years building the Great Pyramid of Giza

• To make the Pharaoh happy in the afterlife and as a result, everyone in Egypt would have a happy afterlife.

Effect – Demonstration of engineering and scientific knowledge.

Result – One of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World and the only one left standing.

Hatshepsut

Goal: To increase Egypt’s trade

Cause:

• Sent traders to Punt, Asia Minor, and Greece

Effect – The arts and architecture was funded.

Result – Magnificent buildings were built across Egypt

• Example – Her temple at Thebes

Ramses the Great

Goal: To make Egypt a great power.Cause:

• Ramses signs peace treaty with Hittites and becomes allies.

• Builds a series of forts to protect the Nile Delta region.

• Ramses had one of the longest reigns in Egyptian history.

Result: Becomes known as Ramses the Great

Accomplishments:

• Expanded Empire

• Strengthened Egypt’s defenses.

• Egypt has reached its peak in power.
