I did what do you mean 'confused' though?


well i wanted to introduce Death Company but didn't quite know about them. and i'mnot sure about the best weapons to equip my teams with. i used ellie's angels as onetroop, so couldn't change their weapons and then was unsure of what to give to therest.


ok, well first off, have you got any questions?


well only really about Death Company and how they would best fit into a game. andshould they have a transport vehicle and if so, what should be used, or are they bestoff having jump packs. just those sort of questions.


ok, well, ask away specific questions though

ellie ford says (22:30)oh and if one sergeant has say for example a power fist, is it best to have allsergeants equipped with one, or should they all have different weapons.


depends on the rest of the unit

if you give a unit two meltaguns, you do that so they can destroy tanks

powerfists are used for destroying tanks too

if you give them two flamers, they'll be out to get infantry, so you can give the sgt achainsword, or even a powersword


so in the game where these units were used and there wasn't really any pointsavailable for tanks, i would be better off giving them flamers, for example


well, you make the army list before the game, and you try to make an 'all comers' list,so you need to balance out your ability to kill tanks and infantry

it wouldnt be fair to tailor a list to your opponent's


but with 500 points, you don't have many options do you. it doesn't seem to makesense to have only 5 marines and a tank


no, thats true

a tank would be a rhino or razorback, and they add mostly mobility

but in smaller games, thats less important

I like 1750 point games, good amount of tactical options, enough points to make abalanced army list, and games dont take too long

I find the librarian provides more utility for an army

he's decent in close combat with his WS5 and his force weapon (powerweapon butbetter)


and he has psychic powers which can give him a good shooting attack (blood lance)and can protect your units in the opponents turn (shield of sanguinius)


Master i stand by this when i say You are a walking codex


the librarian has synergy on army level, while the reclusiarch only boosts a single unit

does all this still make sense?

W/we have the angels, where the sergeant has a powerfist, but the others dont have aspecial weapon, even though they are allowed one

since theres 5 of them

what I'd have done, is put the meltagun in the small unit of 5, dedicating them to tankhunting duty


and give the large group a flamer, and its sergeant a powersword, so they can do wellvs infantry


well i was trying to fit everything into the points total.

oh ok.


I know

the librarian is also cheaper than the reclusiarch, so that wouldve given you more

meltabombs are protection for walkers btw walkers are walking robots, which arevehicles, and they can lock you in combat, and if you dont have meltabombs orpowerfists/thunderhammers, you cant kill them


since they tend to have an armour value of 12, and most Strength in your army is 4

making the maximum armour penetration roll 4 + 6 = 10


we haven't learnt that yet have we Master?

anyway, the decision to bring them or not doesnt really rely on the points you have,there is another special consideration with them

they have the Rage special rule


meaning they will always move towards, shoot, and assault, the nearest enemy unit

so you dont have control over their actions

they do hit like a sledgehammer, and as tough as nails, but tactically, they are difficultto work with

since they are vulnerable to being led around the field


because a smart opponent will keep a cheap empty vehicle close to them, so theyhave to keep chasing that


so the opponents could use some models to distract them?

now if you drop them right in the middle of the enemy army, and give them the rightchoice of special weapons (I'll get to that) then they can do some real damage

well, yes and no, because jump packs do allow you to Deep Strike into anywhere onthe field, but you cant assault after a Deep Strike

the best way to use Death Company in My opinion, is by putting them in a Stormraven

since its an assault vehicle, they can assault after disembarking from it


ahh...


and the mobility of the stormraven (Fast Skimmer, meaning it can fly over anything at

high speed) helps you get them right where you want them

the problem with this is, a stormraven is expensive too

so the only way to use this strategy is to build your entire army around it

in which case, a reclusiarch would be a good option again, since it boosts deathcompany more than normal units

well, that also answered the 'vehicle or jump packs' question

next is special weapons

now I need to look at the codex a second



oh, one thing I forgot to mention, the stormraven isnt listed as an option for them

its a separate Heavy Support choice

alright, the death company can have a special close combat weapon on every modeland a special pistol per 5 models in the unit

W/we've just established they are an assault unit

can i ask, if you blow up a tank, like i mean really blow it up, can't it be a given that allinside are dead too.

or do you have to actually kill all the models as well


its always nice to have thunderhammers or powerfists so you can crack tanks open inclose combat, so 1 or two of those are a good choice, and then some power weaponsif theres points


uhm, if the tank blows up, the models inside take a Str 4 hit any models within D6" ofit on the outside, take a Str 3 hit from the explosion as well

because i like boyz, they are less expensive than nobz, but i had to compromise bgetting weapons that were alittle more shite for my other Orks

because they are big and scary and look huge compared to other models and do alotmore damage and can take more wounds

or 4 more nobz with big choppas

so why take the warboss instead?

why is there such a difference in troop numbers please? in every battle, the orksoutnumber the marines by heaps so it is difficult to beat them. i never have

and there would be a lot more planning with the bigger numbers wouldn't there. i cansee pup's point

my orks have very crap armor ellie, they are literally little green trolls wearing leather

and bare chested alot of the time... your space marines have that thick robot likearmor

yes but in close combat, the orks are better fighters aren't they? so they still have anadvantage


one space marine is as many points as 2,5 ork boyz


yes, but if you shoot them, they dont get an armour save, and you can shoot em a fewtimes before they reach you


if they survive up until then, the marines are gone at that point

and then you can work them down a bit before they charge you, thus reducing theamount of attacks you get
