WELCOME TO THE SEVENTH GRADE
School starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 2:25 p.m.
Students report to the cafeteria when they arrive at school.
From there students report to their homeroom for daily attendance and announcements.
SCHOOL DAY
Students will have three core classes before lunch.
All seventh graders have the same lunch.
After lunch students have their remaining core class, SSR and their specials class.
SCHOOL DAY
English, History, Math, and Science
Each class is 66 minutes in length.
CORE CLASSES
The SSR class is a Sustained Silent Reading class where students read a book silently for 31 minutes.
WHAT IS SSR?
Seventh grade students will take four different specials classes throughout the year.
Each class is 41 minutes in length.
These classes are: Foreign Language Introduction, Computers, Health/PE and Music.
At the beginning of each quarter, students will receive a new specials class.
*Band meets during SSR.
SPECIALS
Homeroom, lunch, SSR and specials are always held at the same time.
English, History, Math and Science rotate daily.
Ex: Today you have your core classes in this order: History, Math, Science and English…
Tomorrow you will have classes in this order: Math, Science, English and History

ATHLETICS
All children between the ages of 6-16 years of age must attend school. (M.G.L. c. 76, sec. 1)
Parents/guardians must notify the school of their child’s absence in a manner prescribed by school policy. (M.G.L. c.76, sec, 1A)
It is the parent’s/guardian’s duty to ensure that their child attends school. If a child misses 7 full days or 14 half days in any 6 month period, parents/guardians may be taken to court. (M.G.L. c.76, sec. 19)
