BRIEF OVERVIEW Ward 47 is based in region 6 which occupies 885 km² of the land area in Tshwane, total population in the ward is approximately 16 556 and the total number of households are 5 850. Below is a graphical representation of the spatial form of the ward.

As indicated in the figure above, the total population in ward 47 based on the STATSSA census 2011 is 16 556 i.e. 2 percent of the total population in Region 6. The figure above also indicates the total population in ward 47 disaggregated by racial groups. It can be noted from the figure that approximately 76 percent of the population in the ward are is White, 19 percent is Black Africans, the Coloured, Asian and Indian racial groups consume 5 percent of the population in the ward.

The figure above indicates the total population in ward 47 disaggregated by age group, it can be noted from the figure that ward 47 has the largest population of individuals between the ages 35 -64 years, currently recorded at approximately 43,2 percent of the ward total, 18,1 percent of the population in the ward is between the ages 25 – 34 years, 17,8 percent of the population is younger than 15 years, 14,3 percent is between the ages 15 – 24 years, and 6,8 percent is 65 years or older.

Population in the ward 47 has relatively high schooling levels that meet and/or exceed the functional literacy levels (i.e. completed primary education) i.e. approximately 86,1 percent of the population in ward 47 are functionally literate.
