Hi everyone.

Hard to believe another bowling season has come to an end, hasn’t the time flown! So much has happened throughout this time frame it’s unbelievable.

Firstly, I must congratulate all our Ladies for their endeavours in helping out the Social Committee with catering for events during the bowls season, e.g. Gala Day, Post Tel (twice), Heart Throbs, and just recently Men’s Country Week. Maxine Tierney and her Committee are to be commended for their professionalism in running these events. Well done Ladies!!

Thanks must also go to the Ladies Selection Committee for their commitment to the Pennant season, their job is very hard having to make decisions every week, sometimes not to the liking of players. It is a team game, not an individual’s game, so their end choice is to the benefit of our Club, which is the goal of all selectors who take on this role.

Getting back to Pennants, there were some ups and downs during the season, but overall we did very well. In One Green North we had two teams, with

Wanneroo 1 finishing third on the ladder, so they are in the playoffs. Wanneroo 2 unfortunately finished 9th, so they have been relegated to Division 2 next season. Division 2 Blue finished in 4th position, so they stay there, and Division 4 finished 7th, which was very good, considering they had to forfeit a few times as we were short of players

On Tuesday 6th March we had our Pennant Wind-up, and all the Ladies who attended had a great time. Short and Tall catered for the night, with 5 men helping serving the food and tidying up. Thanks go to Peter O’Day, Stan Beazley, John Miller, Rene Pace and Don Charles. P.J. Anderson once again did a great job playing all the great songs from the 50’s and 60’s, and it was wonderful to see the Ladies dancing and singing on the dance floor. Definitely one of our better wind-up nights that we have had!

Thanks go to the Match Committee for their sterling job throughout the year and the results for the Championship Triples were: Winners: Jenny Weaver, Liz Ritchie and Lyn Hampton, Runners-up: Maureen Jennings, Margaret Seez and Elizabeth Jackson. Plate Winner: Catherine Farrell, Anne Miller and Cheryl Kapitzke. Well done Ladies!!

Championship Fours were: Winners: Ann McMonagle, Ronnie Anderson, Glenys Broad and Shirley Pinney. Runners-up: Maureen Jones, Sheila

Coull, Jenny Weaver and Julia Sinclair. Plate winner: Mary Hatcher, Lesley Cross, Maureen Cowan and Mary Tailor.

Next on our Calendar is the Wanneroo/Joondalup Trophy which will be played on Friday 23rd March, 16 Ladies representing Wanneroo, with two reserves on stand-by. Hopefully we can bring home the bacon! On that same date is the President’s Pairs, so the rest of our Ladies will be working hard in the kitchen again, feeding 50 teams of hungry men. Gosh we have the best Ladies in the world!!

Keep on enjoying your bowls, stay healthy, and prepare for a great new season.

Cheers

Regards: Terri O’Day Vice Chairperson.

Hi Fellow Dart Payers, With about 5-6 games to go a couple of teams are in a good position to play finals. Wanneroo A Grade are fluctuating between top and second spot on the ladder, only losing a few games all season. Huge averages by Dave Platt and consistent games by the team is paying off. If you ever get a chance to drop in, have a look at how good these boys are. 23/1/18 Dave Platt scored 2x180s and 4 pegs with a 93.13 average only to follow up the next week with a 96 average. Bryan Sharp chipped in with a 75.14 average. Wanneroo Red B Grade has started the year slow after being on top at Easter break. They lost 5 straight but were back in form with a win last week. Stand out players Alan (Dragon Slayer) Ashen,

Chris (Phantom) Walker, and Barry (Captain Manering) Anthony with Jenny Sellick still playing well. Steve Denny is back in the team which is a big boost on the run home. Wanneroo Black C Grade, as predicted in the first newsletter, has made a big comeback after a slow start. They are now sitting top of the ladder. The team is playing well with the stand out player Colin White continuing to peg for his team. It was a big night out on 13/2/18 for Colin White, Rod Halliday and Jason Buss combining for 6 pegs. Chipping in and helping out on 16/1/18 was Colleen Redman with 2 pegs and Daphne Wallis had a great night out on 23/1/18 with a 34.5 averaged and a peg. Single night stand out Ian Allan on 6/2/18 had a 44.9 average and 4 pegs. Dart Shirts Money has been collected from all teams and I just need teams to proof read my order before I go ahead. Once this is done they will take about 3 weeks to arrive.

Now is the time to start trying to recruit new players in an effort to make up another team next season. Good luck for the teams in the finals! Good arrows Charlie

Hi All Golfers,

January’s game was at Kwinana with a good turn out and an enjoyable day. Congratulations to the worthy winner Campbell Pudney.

Our next game in February was played at Wanneroo which was better than expected as they had Sanded and cored but all turned out good in the end. Congratulations to the winners Dave Wilkinson and Jason Skipper.

The next game on 18th March is to be held at Secret Harbour which is always a brilliant weekend as a few of us go and stay Friday to Sunday as we also enjoy the Irish Day entertainment in Mandurah.

Please don’t forget to get your names down to help out at the upcoming Sausage Sizzle on Saturday 14th April at Bunnings in Joondalup. Many hands make light work.

Happy Golfing
