DESCRIPTION
Three Bengali-language articles, one by Father Pankaj J. Nokrek, CSC, and two by Father Peter Rema, on the 'Wangala' celebration of the Catholic Garos (Mandis) of Bangladesh. Originally, pagan Garos observed this social celebration of thanksgiving to the Spirits after new harvests, and, since 1978, it was inculturated into a Christian one, whereby Catholic Garos give their thanks to Christ the King instead. These three articles provide the background as well as the rituals and theological meaning of this celebration from the Christian perspective.TRANSCRIPT
