Technologic advancements: • Disney has undergone major technological advances in its work over to years… • In its early years, it produced cheap, black and white cartoons. • Later on, it managed to produce high standard animation movies, in colour, and

higher standard sound. Compare Steamboat Willie to Snow White’s movie. • In 1995, the first CGI movie was created by Disney and this was a huge step forward

for the company, technology-wise. • Over the years, Disney went from the standards seen on the left image, to the

standards on the right one. (both images below)

The future. • John Lasseter saw the CGI animation imagery for the first time in 1981. this

production was a rough example at the time of how CGI would work. • Once he commented on how ‘This is what Walt was waiting for’ he was fired as a

junior animator in Disney studios. • Lasseter then went on to become the Co. founder of Pixar studios. He fully directed

the first CGI film, Toy Story. • Now chief creative officer of both Pixar and Disney Animation Studios, Lasseter is

widely acknowledged to be the world's most preposterously imaginative geek. • As of 18th January 2009, 13 movies were planned for release in that year. The CEO of

DreamWorks, Jeffrey Katzenberg stated that he believed in the next 5 to 7 years, all movies will be made in 3D.
