“There are always limitations” moving onto the morals behind his work, Harvey talks about sustainability “It’s a must, you can’t design some-thing if it’s not going to last, or has a negative effect on the environment” A point that he com-municated strongly. Another irm point was his consideration of product audience; “When design-ing I’d say one of the main components is Who?, the target audience for my product determines a lot of aspects of my product like materials, ergo-nomics and price.”

He holds ergonomics as a highly important, taking the time to formulate the perfect product. Our young designer has a strong drive and high hopes for the future. “I like to take all the best aspects of good design and put them together, and one day want to put my own stamp on the market”-Oliver Staiano

The reason for his choice of Bachelor of Science degree over Bachelor of Art is simply his passion for technicalities. Knowing the processes behind the functioning of a product before consid-ering the aesthetics is a great part of his design ethic. “I just like the scientiic aspect, I’m a technology geek!”

George Harvey takes pleasure in lead-ing an adrenaline fuelled sports life, being a windsuring instructor and enjoying ice hockey, football and being dedicated member of the local gym. This relects within his work, as I noticed how his designs are fun, func-tional as well as being aesthetically pleasing.

From as far as he can remember, George Harvey has always been fascinated by technology. Religiously holding owner-ship over the latest Apple releases and using up to the minute software across all platforms, in design he believes that gadgetry is key. Whilst still holding strong values in hand drawn sketches, Harvey has preference in creating computerised imagery to develop his designs. “Solidworks is incredible. I could happily sit on it all day” he claims as I was shown some striking car models. Harvey adds “These were just out of my own enjoyment” Born in Peterborough, George Harvey has been raised surrounded by a rich culture of traditional architecture which he says is a great environment to be involved in.
