The guiding principal for this home was the preservation of the sites natural beauty. Located on Gambier Island, in Howe Sound, near Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, this spectacular home with its elegant post and beam design captures the unobstructed views. Designed as a destination for entertaining guests, this north-facing home was purposefully
built within the trees for privacy, shade and to maintain the site's character.
This architecturally designed open-plan concept with passive heating/cooling envelope features a dual-pitched main roof promoting natural air-flow, easy single-location rainwater
collection, and a comfortable interior volume. The "L" shaped Living, Kitchen, and Dining areas integrate beautifully with the outdoor living space. This L-shape also allows for free
air flow throughout to enhance natural ventilation and circulation.
Master suite integrates bed and bath with translucent glass partitions. The unique ensuite bathroom creates the feeling of an outdoor shower experience.
Engineered glass rails allow transparent views. The "L" shaped home intertwines with the outdoor space and opens up to it through a 16' wide Lift and Slide door. This effectively
combines the spaces and frames the beautiful view. The beauty of the tile-faced fireplace wall feature is truly a showstopper.
Thank you!
