Nestled in an enclave of bay front homes, a few blocks west of Ocean City, Maryland’sAtlantic beaches, rests a shingle style charmer. With its dramatic glulam structured concave

roof sweeping upward, it’s a real eye-catcher.

This home was designed by Becker Morgan Group, Inc. in Salisbury, MD

The Owner’s program was simple: provide open floor plan spaces oriented to capture thespectacular water views, create open flow for major entertaining, a pizza oven, many

bedroom en suites for overnight guests—a mini-beach hotel.

The harsh elements played a role in the design of two lanai spaces—one directly waterfront, the other in a wind protected courtyard.

Rooms and windows were placed to maximize privacy fromadjacent neighbors while providing panoramic water views giving a boat-like feel to almost

every space.

As most lots dictate, the density in coastal towns is intense with water frontage at apremium. In an effort to visually reduce the large, 3-story mass, the core of this home was “carved out”. Carving out the façade was softened by the gentle upward swoop ascending

to the centrally punctuated octagonal tower.
