Life is Wild ~ God is Good! Hope’s Vacation Bible School was June 17-21 and hosted 652 children during the daytime & evening sessions.

This year’s Vacation Bible School was ROAR: Life Is Wild ~ God is Good! The main theme carried throughout the week was how God is good in all things and is there for us always. The kids experienced African-themed music and crafts such as making drums, necklaces, and lions to name a few. The lessons came together at the end of the week when the campers learned how God is with them by giving us Jesus to be our ultimate sacrifice and to rescue us from the sin of this world.

Hammer of Hope Award

Congratulations to Ellen Richardson, who was presented with the “Hammer of Hope” award for volunteer service on June 30. Each year the MLT of our congregation honors one of Hope’s dedicated servant volunteers. We are truly thankful for each and every member of our congregation who participates in our Christ-centered ministries here at Hope!

Employment Opportunity & Goodbye Hope is seeking to hire a day-time, part-time Receptionist/Office Assistant. Carlin O’Brien has served faithfully in this position for several years, and will be sorely missed as she moves on to a Real Estate Broker for her family’s company, Oak City Properties.

If you are interested in applying, please send a resume to Pastor Wayne Puls ([email protected]) as soon as possible.

National Youth Gathering 2019 Every three years, the high school youth of our church have the chance to participate in the National Youth Gathering of our church denomination, the LCMS. This year, we are sending 52 of Hope’s youth & adult leaders to this wonderful event from July 11 - 15.

The National Youth Gathering is so much more than a vacation, it’s a chance to grow & stretch their faith perspectives. Please pray for our Youth and Leaders as they travel to Minnesota to participate. There will be special commissioning service at the 11:00AM service on July 7, 2019. Thank you for supporting our youth as they prepare for this life-changing event!

Thank You from the Scott Family! To say that my family and I are grateful for the time that we got to spend with all of you over the last year is a giant understatement, to say the least. Our year at Hope was spent with so many opportunities to see the love of Christ shine in each of you and leaving was especially difficult for us.

On our way back to St. Louis, I asked a close friend of mine at the seminary if it’s normal to feel this sad when you leave a congregation. His response really stuck with me. What he said was that love hurts. If you love your people, leaving them is going to hurt. I can honestly say that over the last year, you’ve shown my family and I love time and time again. And through your example, I’ve learned what Christ-like love looks like. Hopefully, I’ve learned how to show that kind of love through my time with you.

The Scotts grew during our time with you. There’s no doubt about it. We grew in faith, and in love towards Christ, one another, and all of you. And we aren’t great at goodbyes either, which makes something like this especially hard to write. So instead, I just want to say thank you. For everything you taught us as a family, and me personally as your vicar, thank you. For your Christ-like example, and dedication to service and mission, thank you. For each act of generosity, for the laughs and tears that we shared together, for each smile, hug, and handshake, thank you. We love you guys. In Christ, Kevin, Sam, and Bear Scott

COLOSSIANS Dates: July 7 –28 Location: Adult Education floor, room 301 Leader: Luke Tew Colossians is one of the most thoroughly Christ-centered books in the Bible. Writing with stylistic flair, Paul captures the essence of the Savior, celebrating Him as the object of the believer’s faith, the image of the invisible God, the head of the Church, the unifier and reconciler of all things, and the true pattern for the life of Christian faith. During the month of July, you are invited to explore the brilliance of Colossians!

July Adult Education Sunday Mornings; 9:45-10:45AM Every Sunday morning there are opportunities for adults to grow in the Word of God - visitors are always welcome!

Vacation Bible School - Thank You! New this year to VBS was Safari Surprise, which featured live animals, games, and a visit from former DCE Krista Young’s daughter, Grace. The Young family have been missionaries in Africa for the past few years. Grace was able to teach everyone cool things about Africa and the children really embraced the message every day that God is good! A huge thank you to all the volunteers both before and during VBS that made this week extra special for so many children. A special shout-out to the VBS Directors: Tonya Watt, Angie Meyer, Briana Evans, Lauren Habers, Amy Crenshaw, Wesley Spottiswood, Steve McCarthy, and Beth Agner. Also thank you to the Junior Directors: Emily Minor and Alexis Wood.
