Wisconsin Shines in St. Louis Once again, Wisconsin was well represented at the AAFCS annual conference. Whether we had responsibilities or not, we all benefited from a great conference and celebrating the accomplishments of WAFCS Leaders. Region 5 Fall Meeting Don’t miss the unique opportunity that Region 5 is planning for their fall meeting. Have you visited a hospital or clinic recently and wondered about the large number of personnel working there? How can all the needs of the health care industry be met? Do you know of a young person considering a career in the health care field? Well, plan to attend Region 5’s fall meeting at Madison College. Tour the new state-of-the-art health education facility at Madison College, Truax Campus, Madison, WI. !

See demonstrations of state-of-the-art equipment that simulate serious and life threatening conditions and hear about the many programs offered. Enjoy a meal prepared by Madison College. This will take place October 1 beginning at 4:45 pm. More information and details will follow. Mark your calendar now!

Last Chance for Current Membership Rate

At the June 2014 AAFCS annual conference, the Senate voted to change the dues structure effective September 1. If you know of someone who is interested in joining or if you are ready to renew your membership, now is the time to do so before the dues increase in September. Currently, Active dues are $135, Emeritus $95, and Student $60. The new dues structure is listed below per the AAFCS FACS Newsletter. More information will be coming in the WAFCS Fall Newsletter about the Senate actions including the new dues structure.

Effective September 1, 2014, AAFCS membership categories and annual dues for individual members are as follows:

• Professional (includes the former Active, Ellen Richards Sustaining and Associate) = $150

• Emeritus = $100

• Student = $50

2015 Leadership Academy The AAFCS Community on Building Leadership Capacity is presenting the AAFCS Leadership Academy for New Professionals (Prerequisite: BS degree or greater with up to 5 years membership in AAFCS) who wish to design their own leadership plan in order to secure their preferred future as leaders in AAFCS. The Leadership Academy will begin with face-to-face sessions prior to the AAFCS Annual Conference in Jacksonville, FL, June 23–24, 2015. Activities of the Academy will continue throughout the following year using interactive learning modules and webinars with the latest technologies for group sessions. The application and rubric for the participants are posted on the AAFCS website: !http://www.aafcs.org/developmentcenter/leadershipacademy.asp !Applications for the Leadership Academy are due October 15, 2014 with notification on November 15.!
