Man of the Match – Ramesh Negi (HUDCO) Outstanding Performance: Twice the wicket keeper could not collect the ball when batsmen were out of their crease by yards, which resulted in victory for Essex. Man of the Match – Praveen Kumar (H S S) Outstanding Performance: Praveen Kumar and Vidhur Saxena scored briskly to post a huge total of 201 in 25 overs. The task of scoring the runs was further made difficult for Churchill as they were penalized by 1 over for not bowling their quota in stipulated time. Nitin Suri tried his best but came very late to chase the target and also did not get any support from other members of the team. HSS earned bonus point in this match as well to take their point’s tally to 10 with 2 bonus points and confirmed their entry in knockout stage.

Man of the Match – Abhishek Misra (Seagran) Outstanding Performance: Abhishek Misra of Seagram only after 4 hours changed the name of the player of highest individual scorer of the tournament when he overtook Manoj Nandkishore of Sapient, who earlier in the day scored 83 against HUDCO. He along with Raja Banarji scored 137 for the second wicket, which is also a record for the highest partnership for 2nd wicket rather any wicket of the tournament so far. William E.Connor tried their level best not to concede a bonus point but fell short by just 3 runs. Chandra Mouli and William Hooper put on 55 runs for the 6th wicket as they were struggling at 55 for 5 at one stage.

Man of the Match – Sunil Gulati (ICICI Bank) Outstanding Performance: In this match out of 20 wickets that fell, 14 players in all got out while trying to play a cross batted shot. ICICI Bank was 76 for 8 when Sunil Gulati with last two partners scored 49 runs for the last 2 wickets to take the score to 125. The irony of the match is that ICICI Bank won the match with 49 runs and also got a bonus point. For Delphi Auto we saw an outstanding spell of medium fast bowling by Abraham Joseph.

For HSS Ashwani Dosaj did take 3 wickets but the pick of the bowler was Uppen Babu who conceded only 3 runs in his spell of 5 overs and took 2 wickets to bring HSS back into the match. Raghav went into bat when Aviva was struggling at 16 for 4 with all top order batsmen back in pavilion. He took the charge when 9 runs were required of 4 deliveries and he along with Ajay ran 4 doubles to end the match in a tie. The 4 points were shared between the teams.

Deepak Sharma of ND TV took it on himself when there was no hope for his team to win the match and bowled a superb spell to change the complexion of the match and register the first win of the tournament.

Sandeep Tikku played very sensibly on the pitch where ball was not coming on to the bat and the batsman had to adjust his shots. His 4th wicket partnership with Dheeraj yielded 76 runs for H P. Whereas Anshuman along with Sidharth scored 48 runs for the 3rd wicket with some good running between the wickets. After the fall of Anshuman & Sidharth wickets fell at regular interval and Maruti required just 7 runs of 6 deliveries. Maruti scored 6 runs of 4 deliveries but could not score a single run in the last 2 balls and the match ended in a tie. H P lost the 2 points, which they could have achieved easily had their wicket keeper not missed al least 4 run out chances. This was the second tie match of the tournament so far.

At this point Rodney analysis were 3-2-2-5. Rajneesh then took it upon himself to bring his team’s total to respectability by scoring 67 runs while wickets kept on falling at other end. Had they achieved that, they would have qualified for pre-quarter finals. They were going great guns as their score was 88 for 1 after 8 overs and were 135 for 1 after 13 overs. At this stage Dev Prasad went to field, as he was suffering from stomachache and had retired after scoring 89 runs earlier and captained his side to bring a fantastic victory. He was declared Man of the Match for his superb captaincy.
