In 2010 VonZipper launched their fi rst optical col lection & founded “Charity for Clar ity” with the purpose of donating an optical f rame for every frame they sel l .

With over 20 years of experience in providing education, training and care to developing countr ies, Physicians for Peace with their Seeing Clearly program was chosen as VonZipper’s par tner for providing eye exams and dispensing eyewear to those in need.

The abil i ty to see is no small miracle. People who cannot see come up against daunting challenges at home, in school and in the workplace. Communit ies that lack trained healthcare professionals and resources are especial ly hard hit

by inadequate vis ion care: 90 percent of the people who are bl ind l ive in the world’s developing countr ies.

The World Health Organization est imates that 80% of al l bl indness is avoidable. Through their Seeing Clearly Program, Physicians for Peace empower in-country ophthalmologists and optometr ists to address the issues of cataracts,

glaucoma and errors of refraction.

On our recent mission to the Phi l ippines, the team from Physicians for Peace and VonZipper provided access to quali ty eye care services with eye exams, medical treatment and optical f rames through their Seeing Clearly and Charity for Clar ity programs to reduce the high incidence of preventable bl indness.

Eighty-1st and 2nd grade teachers from twenty-three elementary schools were lectured on the dangers of early age vis ion impairment, educated on the issue of preventable bl indness and received training to identi fy and screen at r isk chi ldren.

During the week long mission, PFP optometr ists in local cl inics and schools screened nearly 500 patients and elementary students.

With VonZipper’s ONE-FOR-ONE donations, Physicians for Peace is able to provide prescr ipt ion glasses to chi ldren and adults in underprivi leged countr ies.
