Your V VA Community Newsletter April 2014 April Is The Time to Celebrate Volunteers Many organizations depend on volunteers to assist with the delivery of services or programs that they offer. Without the help of Community Members, co-op students and external volunteers looking to give back to the community, many of our own programs would not be able to run. The Waterside has over 25 volunteers assisting with programs offered to our Community Members. Many of these volunteers operate behind the scenes. This is why celebrating and recognizing our volunteers during National Volunteer Month is so important. On Monday, April 7th, Waterside will host it’s 1st Annual Volunteer Fair inviting you and members of the public to join us as we offer an opportunity for everyone to find volunteer opportunities with a variety of organizations and hear first-hand stories of volunteers and what drives them to give back to others. To finish off the week, on Friday, April 11th, Waterside will be recognizing the wonderful efforts and the time given by our dedicated volunteers! Join us in thanking them at our Volunteer Appreciation Tea at 2:30 pm. Where is Spring? Spirit Week and March Meltdown week were just not enough to chase away the cold winter and bring on spring. We tried our hardest to wish away winter by keeping our bodies active and our minds off the cold temperatures outdoors, but our great Canadian winter held on tight. Inside we tried to heat things up with serving peanut butterand jelly sandwiches, reminding us of our summer picnics, hosting a Hollywood Night at the Oscars with shrimp cocktails and non-alcoholic champagne, we even hosted a Caribbean pool party… BUT nothing seemed to work. Now that April has arrived, we hope that it brings warmer temperatures for the ground to thaw so we can enjoy the blooming of over 100 tulips that our V!VA gardeners planted last fall.

April Is The Time to Celebrate VolunteersMany organizations depend on volunteers to assist with the delivery of services or programs that they offer.

On Monday, April 7th, Waterside will host it’s 1st

Annual Volunteer Fair inviting you and members of the public to join us as we offer an opportunity for everyone to find volunteer opportunities with a variety of organizations and hear first-hand stories of volunteers and what drives them to give back to others.

To finish off the week, on Friday, April 11th, Waterside will be recognizing the wonderful efforts and the time given by our dedicated volunteers! Join us in thanking them at our Volunteer Appreciation Tea at 2:30 pm.

Where is Spring?Spirit Week and March Meltdown week were just not enough to chase away the cold winter and bring on spring.

We tried our hardest to wish away winter by keeping our bodies active and our minds off the cold temperatures outdoors, but our great Canadian winter held on tight. Inside we tried to heat things up with serving peanut butterand jelly sandwiches, reminding

us of our summer picnics, hosting a Hollywood Night at the Oscars with shrimp cocktails and non-alcoholic champagne, we even hosted a Caribbean pool party… BUT nothing seemed to work.

Now that April has arrived, we hope that it brings warmer temperatures for the ground to thaw so we can enjoy the blooming of over 100 tulips that our V!VA gardeners planted last fall.

Waterside Prepares for 5th AnniversaryHard to believe that 5 years ago in May 2009 the Waterside hosted its official Grand Opening for all to see what V!VA had to offer to Carleton Place! Since then we have been privileged to have welcomed so many great individuals into our family and have created wonderful memories.

We invite you to save the date of Wednesday, May 28th as we look to celebrate 5 years of success, new memories, friendships and many more years of fun together!
