Itisrecommendedthatyouapplyatleasttwo(2)layersofVulko-Wrap™overanysurfaceyouarecovering.ThenumberoflayersrequiredisdependentuponthevoltagepotentialoftheterminationtheVulko-Wrap™isbeingappliedover,andalsodependentupontheamountofabusetheterminationisexpectedtoexperience.SeeORDERING INFORMATION on front.

ApplythefirstlayerofVulko-Wrap™withamaximumstretch(<75%oforiginalwidth).Applythesecondlayerwithminimalorzerostretchofthewrap.

1. MeasureandcutthedesiredlengthofVulko-Wrap™fromtherollandremove themylarseparator.Takeprecautiontoavoidhavingthewrapfoldontoitself.

2.HoldoneendoftheVulko-Wrap™ontheterminationtobecovered.Stretchand wraptheVulko-Wrap™aroundthetermination,overlappingitapproximately50%.

3. Continuetostretchandwrapwhileapplyinguntiltheentireterminationis encapsulated.OverlapthetailendoftheVulko-Wrap™backoveritself.

4.ApplyasecondlayerofVulko-Wrap™overtheentiresurfaceofthefirstlayer. Thissecondlayer(andsubsequentlayers)doesnotrequireanystretching. Continuetowrapuntildesiredorrequiredthicknessisachieved.

In-Line Splice Connections

1. BeginwrappingthefirstlayerofVulko-Wrap™ontothetermination byholdingtheleadendonthesurfaceandstretchingthetape arounduntilitoverlapsitselfapproximately50%.Continuetowrap theterminationuntiltheVulko-Wrap™extends1.5inchesineach directionbeyondthetermination (See FIGURE 1).

OverlapthetailendoftheVulko-Wrap™backoveritself.Thefirst layershouldhaveamaximumstretchof<75%ofitsoriginalwidth.

2.Applyasecondlayer(andsubsequentlayers)overtheentire surfaceofthefirstlayer.Thesecondandsubsequentlayersdo notrequireanystretching.Continuetowrapuntilthedesiredor requiredthicknessisachieved.Ifthesplicewillhaveexposureto mechanicalabuse,itisrecommendedtouseReinforcedVulko-Wrap™ (P/N18412)asanaddedlayerorlayersovertheVulko-Wrap™to provideaddedprotection.Thenumberofaddedlayersisdependent upontheexpectedseverityoftheabuse.

“Y” and “V” Splice Connections

1. UsetheVulko-Wrap™tofillinand/orsmoothoutthevoidsexisting aroundthenon-insulatedterminalconnection(the“V”gaps existinginthe“Y”and“V”connections).CarefullywrapVulko-Wrap™ inacrossingpatternaroundthesegapsatthenon-insulated terminals.Useamaximumstretch(<75%oforiginalwidth)when applyingtheVulko-Wrap™aroundthegapsatthenon-insulated terminal connections.

2.Aftercompletingthestepabove,starttowraptheVulko-Wrap™around the“Y”or“V”splicemakingsuretomeettheminimum1.5inch clearanceasshowninFigures2a,2bor3.Again,thefirstlayershould haveamaximumstretchof<75%ofitsoriginalwidth.Besuretooverlap thetailendoftheVulko-Wrap™backoveritself.

3.Applyasecondlayer(andsubsequentlayers)overtheentire surfaceofthefirstlayer.Thesecondandsubsequentlayersdo notrequireanystretching.Continuetowrapuntilthedesiredor requiredthicknessisachieved.Ifthesplicewillhaveexposureto mechanicalabuse,itisrecommendedtouseReinforcedVulko-Wrap™ (P/N18412)asanaddedlayerorlayersovertheVulko-Wrap™to provideaddedprotection.Thenumberofaddedlayersisdependent upontheexpectedseverityoftheabuse.
