Please take some me to read through the survey results printed in the bulle-

n. We have tried to communicate the trends, strengths, and areas for im-provement for our parish in both wri en, summary form and also illus-trated in a graph. We appreciate your feedback and sugges ons. Because of the importance of this informa on, we are running it two weeks in the bulle n so everyone has a chance to review it. My hope is that everyone can read and reflect on the strengths and areas for growth in our community over the summer. Along with parish council, I will be brainstorming for some prac cal, concrete plans moving forward. In the fall we will hold a couple listening sessions to prepare a vision for In-carnate Word moving forward. Your feedback at that me will be most helpful so please take some to think and pray on these topics. During the first two weeks of July, we will be re-placing all of the carpet under the pews in church. The current carpet has served us well but is ready to be re red! Because all of the pews must be re-moved for this job, we will have weekday Masses in the mul purpose room upstairs. We hope to have this project complete by July 13 and the weekend Masses will not be disrupted. Thank you for your understanding. Fr. Schroeder

June 24, 2018 - The Nativity of St. John the Baptist “…Behold, one is coming after me; I am not worthy to un-fasten the sandals of his feet.” – ACTS 13:25 Stewardship is a lifestyle, it’s not a program or a process. It’s how we are called to live our lives twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week! It challenges us to live “God-centered” lives, not “self-centered” lives. Reflect on your daily activities, do you do them for the glory of God or for the glory of your own name?

ing new parishioners:

Guide Book & Directory Adver sing Opportunity

We are in the process of upda ng our annual Guide Book & Directory for the church. This book will contain everything per nent to our church: the various ministries, organiza ons, commi ees, ac-

vi es, func ons and events plus a complete direc-tory of all members. This book is being provided and direct-mailed to each family at no cost to our church, and it is again being subsidized by local businesses that adver se. If you own or manage a business and would like to find out about adver s-ing in our book, please call the Parish Office. Re-cent survey results by Guide Book Publishing show that 92.1% of families would rather patronize a Guide Book & Directory adver ser over a non-adver ser. It “will pay” to adver se in our new Guide Book & Directory.

THIS YEAR of 2018 WHY NOT GIVE YOUR HEART

AND BRING COMFORT INTO

SOMEONE’S LIFE Everyday people say “I would like to be a part of helping someone”. Our patients would welcome your visits. Hospice is a special kind of care designed to provide sensitivity and support for people in the final phase of a terminal illness. Heartland Hospice’s goal is to provide palliative and supportive services to meet physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of patients and their families in a health care facility or other residential settings. Volunteers can provide one-on-one attention to residents who are lonely or cut off from their fami-lies, thereby reducing feelings of isolation and contributing to their sense of belonging. The benefits are endless when one can make a “DIFFERENCE”.

Volunteers are the heart of the Hospice Team.

We depend on our Hospice volunteers to help us provide the extra love and care our clients and their families need at this time in their life. Heartland volunteers offer support, companionship and practical, caring help to this special group of people. Staying with the patient so family members can take a break, reading scripture to patients, or holding their hand. The help and support our volunteers give is re-turned to them in countless ways. You can make a DIFFERENCE. All assignments are in close proximity to your home, work or school. You can donate as little or as much of your time as you desire. Please contact Virginia at 314-453-0990 if you would like to bring something special into someone’s life. Be sure to inquire about our next Training Class.

Did you know this about the Knights of Columbus?

We continue the review of a number of major is-sues which the Supreme Knight and staff dis-cussed with state deputies during organizational meetings held in early June. Attendees were state deputies from the United States, Canada, Poland, Mexico, Philippines and the Dominican Republic.

During the opening business session, Supreme Knight Carl Anderson spoke about the importance of the Knights’ charitable work and emphasized the importance of councils working closely with their pastors and parishes. He also stressed the new ‘Faith in Action’ program model and its connection to our Building the Domestic Church priority (for explanation of these two important initiatives see the first of this series in the 6/17/18 Bulletin).

RESPONSIBILITY OF STATE DEPUTIES

“We've been entrusted by our brother Knights to guide this organization into the future, to guide its growth, and to guide its well-being. And it's a heavy responsibility. If [the] Knights of Columbus is going to grow or decline in the local council. That's why we have to reach out and make sure that our local councils are active, that they have sustaina-ble leadership, and that they understand the ne-cessity of bringing new and more people in.”

BUILDING CATHOLICISM, NOT COLUMBI-ANISM

“What Father McGivney laid out was not the princi-ples of a men's club or the principles of a secret society. It was a principled way of life for men to live their Catholic faith. We are not just building Columbianism, we are building Catholicism. Let's think about being a Knight of Columbus like that. And if we do, we understand that we are not just state deputies. Is that not the spiritual genius of Father McGivney? To understand how to build a way of life for men that goes to the central core of what it means to be a Catholic: charity, unity, broth-erhood.”
