All modules are based on a fully programmable 12x18 pixel character matrix which means any kind of character can be displayed. Using the matrix, special characters, measurement units and symbols can be incorporated into the character set.

The text overlay can have up to 30 lines with 56 characters per line

Characters are displayed in white with a black outline which means that text is easy to read regardless of the background.

Text can be displayed with 16 different coloured foregrounds and backgrounds, 16 levels of transparency and can be blinking, underlined or inverted. You can choose from predefined character sets for Western and Central Europe including Cyrillic, Greek, Turkish, Baltic, Hebrew and Arabic. Others upon request.

Display Configuration

3 programmable status lines can display up to 120 measurement values. Each status line can display up to 5 values with up to 8 measurement fields.

The first status line can display either constant text (eg company info) or up to 8 lines of rotating text. The text and display interval can be programmed..

Functions

There are 1 or 2 quadrature encoder inputs for metre and pulse counting (32 bit). The VTG1630BW and VTG3056COL-1-1 modules also contain an additional software metre counter. Information can be displayed in metres or feet.

Metre counting can be done using linear or non-linear characteristic sets. 2 sets can be saved per module and activated as required. Recording and managing of characteristic sets is done via the VTG2G setup software.

Speed can also be displayed in conjunction with metre measurement. This is shown in either cm/sec and m/min or in inch/sec and feet/min.

Date and time display with battery back-up in country-specific format.

Push Buttons

Entering commands, text or data can be done with a standard PS/2 keyboard.

Fully programmable push buttons can activate control functions such as SET and RESET on the metre counter or START, STOP and PAUSE functions in conjunction with PS's DCR-1 digital video recorder.

The video format (PAL/NTSC) is automatically detected or can be programmed using one norm only.

Video in/out

The system generates an internal video signal when there is no video input.

Depending on the module, there are up to 2 video inputs and 4 outputs in both composite and Y/C formats. All video inputs are fitted with a black level clamp.

PC user programme PC software can be used to access the functions of the modules via USB. DLL with comprehensive functionality is available for PC Windows programmes.

VTG2GWindows configuration software for all VTG modules

The VTG2G software allows you to programme, configure and test all modules. The software can be used by both the manufacturer and the end-customer. Password protected access means that only the manufacturer has access to programming and configuration options. In the event of a service call, there is a large range of actions that can be carried out remotely. All that the customer needs to do is to connect the module to a PC with internet access. .

Field configuration

The options:

Turn on/off individual status lines

Assign individual measurement fields. Depending on the module, each field can be assigned more than once.

Specify foreground and background colours for - status lines- editing area

Specify special attributes such as- blink- underline- transparency at different levels

Special attributes for defined limits, e.g. for monitoring purposes (falls below/exceeds limits)

OSD configuration

The options:

.The size of the display and editing areas can be specified.The on-screen display can be adjusted to fit the monitor being used.

.All settings can be set separately for PAL and NTSC systems. The system automatically switches between the settings based on the auto-detect system.

The size of the individual display fields can be specified.

The individual video inputs and outputs can be set to either CVBS or Y/C (VTG3056COL-1)

The options:

Properties can be saved in two configuration sets and selected via solder bridge or jumpers on the board:

After selecting a progressive characteristic curve a dialogue window will offer you the choice of opening and/or loading characteristics files. These characteristics files can be set-up and saved using the VTG2G software and either the VTG1630BW-1 or VTG3056COL-1 module which both have two independent counter inputs..
