MATCH PREVIEW:________________________________________________________ The marathon to the USL playoffs that began April 1 for Fury FC is now a sprint with six games remaining in the USL regular season. Finding themselves five points back of both Cincinnati and Orlando with a game in hand on both clubs, Ottawa travels to Charlotte for a Saturday night contest where they will look to replicate their 3-1 performance over the Independence at TD Place on August 12. Fury FC enter Saturday’s contest coming off a third straight draw, most recently sharing the points in a 1-1 draw against the Rochester Rhinos last Saturday. In that game, Steevan Dos Santos netted his eight goal of the season, finding the back of the net for a fifth straight match and tying Tom Heinemann’s regular season scoring record. Dos Santos now also has the longest scoring streak in club history and the second longest in the USL this season – the longest one being 6-games (Dane Kelly, Reno 1868 FC). Ottawa is chomping at the bit to get back to business and face a dominant squad in the Charlotte Independence – which they beat a few weeks ago and held to only one shot on target. But, in order to get a good result at the Sportsplex at Matthews – where the Independence has lost only twice this year – Fury FC will need to be more effective offensively. The Independence snapped a two-game winless skid with a 3-0 win against the Richmond Kickers last Saturday. Charlotte boasts the best offensive squad in the Eastern Conference and the second best in the USL having scored 50 goals. Ottawa will have to keep an eye on Enzo Martinez, who leads the club and the USL in scoring with 16 goals.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING:

Fury FC GM and Head Coach, Julian de Guzman: “We know what's at stake and it's a big deal. Charlotte is a quality side made up of good footballers and it's important to recognize that. Every point counts and we will do whatever it takes to get ourselves to a playoff spot tomorrow. We have to be ourselves, stick to our game plan and trust that success will follow. Consistency against a team like Charlotte is major. There is no room for error tomorrow if we want to get the job done.” Fury FC Forward, Carl Haworth: “It’s going to be a tough one. We’ve put ourselves in this situation so it’s up to us to get out of it. There are still enough points on the board for the taking and to make a playoff push. That’s been our goal since day 1 and nothing has changed. They are very good at home, but we beat them 3-1 here and we will try to replicate that, focus on our game plan and execute it to the best of our abilities.” Fury FC Defender, Andrae Campbell: “We know it’s going to be a difficult game. The next 6 games, we need to treat them like finals. We’re still within touching distance of the playoffs so we have to give everything. We know that they have been scoring a lot of goals, so we have to be good defensively and make sure that we put away our chances when we can. “
