Vowel / Consonant Color: Write your spelling words using two different colors. All consonants should be written in one color, while all vowels should be written in another color.
Fabulous Foil: Using markers and aluminum foil, write your spelling words on the foil 3 times each.
Spelling Scrabble: Using scrabble letters, arrange your words and add up the point totals to show how much each word is worth.
Guess Who: Using circle clasps and index cards, give a clue for each word on the front of your index card. On the back of the card, write the spelling word you are referring to. (Example, You look out of me to see outside. Spelling word… Window)
Alphabet Fun: Write your spelling words in alphabetical order.
Word Sort: Using construction paper slips, sort your words according to similar spelling patterns. You decide how to sort them (Example, all words that end in “s” are pink, all words that end in “es” are blue). Label how you sorted your words.
Rhyme Right: Write a rhyming word for each of your spelling words.
PowerPoint: Using your spelling words, make a PowerPoint where each slide displays a creative sentence using a single word. Each spelling word, must have its own slide and a sentence. You may use graphics! Be as creative as you wish!
Parts of Speech: Sort your words into the part of speech they are (verbs, nouns, adjectives, adverbs)
Cartoon Creator: Create a cartoon using your spelling words. As characters talk to one another, or you tell what is happening, underline all of your spelling words.
Stamp it!: Use stamp pads and letters to stamp your spelling words.
Partner Pair: Pair up with a student and give each other a practice spelling test.
Creative Writing: Using your spelling words, write an entertaining, creative story. Make sure to underline all of your words.
Silly Synonyms: Using your spelling words, find a synonym (word that means the same, or has a similar meaning to your spelling word) that you can pair with each word. (You can use a thesaurus to help you!)
Picture This: Draw a picture about coming back to school. Write your spelling words within your picture. See if a friend can find them!
Share It: With a partner, help each other write each spelling word by alternating who writes the letters. For example, you are spelling the word “shop.” Partner A writes “S”, partner B writes “h”, partner A writes “o”, partner B writes “p.”
