The City of Tukwila assumed ownership and operational responsibility for the Tukwila Pool from King County in 2003. In 2011 the Tukwila Pool Metropolitan Park District (TPMPD) was formed by voter approval creating a unique entity, separate and distinct from the City of Tukwila. Yes______ No______ BALLOT ISSUE EXPLANATORY STATEMENT The voters of the City of Tukwila created the Tukwila Pool Metropolitan Park District in 2011 and designated the City of Tukwila City Council to serve as the governing body of the Tukwila Pool Metropolitan Park District. This proposition gives the voters of the City of Tukwila the option of changing to a governing body that consists of five commissioners that will be directly elected as Tukwila Pool Metropolitan Park District commissioners. If approved by the voters, the five individuals elected to commissioner positions at the November 2015 election would take office immediately upon certification of the election (November 24) and the City Council will no If TPMPD Proposition 1 is approved, the two candidates with the highest number of votes fill a term of 6 years, the two candidates with the 3rd and 4th highest number of votes fill a term of 4 years, and the candidate with the 5th highest number of votes fills a term of 2 years. If TPMPD Proposition 1 is approved, new commissioners elected by voters will be sworn in following King County Election’s certification of the election, scheduled for November 24, 2015.
