CANDIDATES

The Tukwila Pool was a “Forward Thrust”pool built by King County and opened in 1973.The City of Tukwila assumed ownership and operational responsibility for the Tukwila Poolfrom King County in 2003.In 2011 the Tukwila Pool Metropolitan Park District (TPMPD) was formed by voter approvalcreating a unique entity, separate and distinct from the City of Tukwila.

BALLOT ISSUE EXPLANATORY STATEMENTThe voters of the City of Tukwila created the Tukwila Pool Metropolitan Park District in 2011 and designated the City of Tukwila City Council to serve as the governing body of the Tukwila Pool Metropolitan Park District.

This proposition gives the voters of the City of Tukwila the option of changing to a governing body that consists of five commissioners that will be directly elected as Tukwila Pool Metropolitan Park District commissioners. If TPMPD Proposition 1 is approved, the two candidates with the highest number of votes fill a term of 6 years, the two candidates with the 3rd and 4th highest number of votes fill a term of 4 years,

and the candidate with the 5th highest number of votes fills a term of 2 years.If TPMPD Proposition 1 is approved, new commissioners elected by voters will be sworn in following

King County Election’s certification of the election, scheduled for November 24, 2015.
