90-Degree Rule: All cart drivers are required to stay on the path

until they are 90-degrees from their ball.

Shotgun start: For groups of 32 players or more. All players start

at the same time, but on different holes. Larger fields may have

two groups per hole.

Double Tee: The field is split in half and each division starts

on the #1 hole of two different nines.

Overseeding: Planting rye grass on top of Bermuda grass for

winter playing surfaces. Takes place in the Low Country in the

fall; dates vary between facilities.

Commonly Used Golf Terms

Proxies: Proximity contests. The most of these on-course

contests are Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, Longest Putt

Made and Straightest Drive.

Scramble Format: All players tee off and select the group’s best

shot. All players then hit from that location and continue this

process until the ball is holed out.

Best Ball Format: All players play their own ball and the best

score(s) of the group is recorded as the team score.
