Funding for Continued Improvement for our schools Vote May 2 Early Voting April 18-25 at St. James Parish Clerk of Court offices in Convent and Vacherie e St. James Parish School Board is asking voters to continue funding improvements at ALL our schools. is is NOT a new tax, and there will be NO increase in millages for taxpayers! e proposition calls for a 20-year extension of an existing 10 mills to fund a $56 million capital improvement plan for ALL our schools. e continued funding will allow us to: Expand and improve ALL our campuses for growth, and career and academic success Improve athletic facilities at our middle and high schools for greater competition and fitness for students, including building a new Olympic swimming facility Construct a new St. James High School at a safer location, adjacent to the new football stadium; the campus will include state-of-the-art classroom technology Install new security cameras, fire alarms and sound systems for improved safety on our campuses Combine the Career Tech Center and Science & Math Academy to offer greater school-to-career opportunities for our students Every school will receive construction improvements and updates for maximum student success in our district. e May 2 proposition to fund the $56 million capital improvement plan is endorsed by the River Region Chamber of Commerce. Th e St. James Parish School Board is asking voters to continue funding improvements at ALL our schools.Th is is NOT a new tax, and there will be NO increase in millages for taxpayers!

Th e proposition calls for a 20-year extension of an existing 10 mills to fund a $56 million capital improvement plan for ALL our schools.

Th e continued funding will allow us to:

• Expand and improve ALL our campuses for growth, and career and academic success

• Construct a new St. James High School at a safer location, adjacent to the new football stadium; the campus will include state-of-the-art classroom technology

Vacherie Elementary School-$2.1 Million• New carpool pick-up area and bus driveway• Classroom upgrades, corridor enclosure, and new science and special education classrooms• Cafeteria kitchen upgrades and new restrooms• New VCT floors, windows and ceiling fixtures• New lighting, intercom and signal systems

Fift h Ward Elementary School- $1.5 Million• New front entrance and roof• Electrical and mechanical upgrades• New modern lighting and fixtures• Repairs to all interior walls, cabinets and doors• New plumbing and HVAC systems• Upgrade safety system

Sixth Ward Elementary School-$3.5 Million• New carpool pick-up area and bus driveway• Classroom upgrades, corridor enclosure, and new science and special education classrooms• Cafeteria kitchen upgrades and new restrooms• New VCT floors, windows and ceiling fixtures• New lighting, intercom and signal systems

New St. James High School Campus-$32.9 Million• New state-of-the-art school for academics, arts and athletics• To be constructed at a safer location, adjacent to the new football stadium• State-of-the-art classrooms, labs and technology• New Visual Arts Program for art, music and drama• New adjoining classroom section for middle school students in grades 6-8

Proposed Early College High School-$4.1 million • Combine the Career Tech Center and Science & Math Academy to create an Early College High School facility• Implement state-of-the-art technology features in classrooms• Additional classrooms provided for teaching career focus • New science labs for college-level chemistry, biology and physics

Gramercy Elementary School-$1.4 Million• Magnet program area with special classrooms• New restrooms and covered walkways • Upgrades to floors, ceilings and windows• New electrical, mechanical and plumbing facilities• New lighting, intercom and safety systems

Paulina Elementary School, Phase III Expansion-$2.3 Million• Phase I added nine classrooms in 2011• Phase II added 13 classrooms, a media center and HVAC system in 2012 and 2013 • Phase III Expansion will: o Upgrade remaining sections of school, new floors, repaint classrooms and suspend ceilings o Add new plumbing system, windows, doors, alarm system, lighting, and intercom, fire and signaling systems

Lutcher Elementary School-$975,000• New roof added• Replace all floors, ceiling tiles, baseboards and plumbing fixtures• New mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC and lighting• New lighting fixtures, fire alarms and intercom and signal systems

Lutcher High School-$8.1 Million • Renovate and restructure high school and middle school areas• Complete improvements at middle school and middle school gym• Reconstruct school elevator, improve drainage and add parking • Upgrade girls soft ball locker and dressing rooms • Construct a new baseball varsity and junior varsity locker room • Upgrade all HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems • New digital lighting and audio systems for the auditorium, stage and cafetorium

New Competitive Swimming Complex with Olympic Pool-$2.8 Million • To be constructed for competitive practice and local, regional and state swim meets• Olympic pool, facility, dressing rooms and seated viewing areas

All new construction, upgrades and renovations proposed in the capital improvement plan will be completed with NO INCREASE IN TAXES TO VOTERS.
