A light curtain detects the front and back side of theproduct(s). Therefor the machine opens the valve forthe abrasive, only then when there is material. Thisincreases the life time of the wear plates.

Using a cascade plate combined with air flow from the filter unit thissystem collects good abrasive which it sends back to the abrasivecontainer. Waste abrasive falls into a dust bag, and fine dust goes tothe filter unit.

AUTOMATIC ADJUSTABLE TURBINES LONG TURBINE AND MOTOR LIFESPAN

This option is frequently used on the VSB2500 andVSB3300 shot blasters. In case of blasting wide platesthe outer turbine angles are adjusted to give maximumblasting power over the total width. In case of blastingbeams, which are centrally placed on the conveyor,the outer turbine angles are adjusted to give moreblasting power to the middle of the conveyor. A bigadvantage: Higher speed by smaller width and lesswear on the machine.

The turbines which are used for all Voortman shot blasters aremade according to a design used for many years. Each turbine sethas a separate abrasive valve to start the abrasive flow only whenmaterial reaches the turbine, so damage to the machine because ofrunning empty is minimized. Each turbine is connected to its motorwith flexible couplings supported by double bearings for maximumstability. This reduces the wear of the motor to a minimum. For theVSB3300 belts are used to connect the massive 500 mm (20”)turbines with the motors.

NOISE INSULATION AUTOMATIC ABRASIVE REFILL

With noise insulation panels closing down the sides ofthe VSB1500 and VSB2500 models, the sound level isreduced to less than 85 dB. For the VSB3300 acomplete noise chamber surrounding the machine isrequired.

To prevent shutting down the shot blaster to refill the abrasivecontainer, a separate abrasive container can be placed next to theshot blaster which can be refilled without disturbing the blastingprocess. A sensor in the main container gives a signal to start thetransfer of abrasive between the containers.

The brush and blow off unit cleans the material fromabrasive after blasting. The height of the brush isautomatically adjusted using an infeed light curtainthat measures the height of the material.

The elevator transports the used abrasive to the separation system.For easy replacement of elevator parts the machine has a pushbutton next to the elevator to rotate the belt manually.

FREQUENCY CONTROLLED TURBINES ANDABRASIVE

SCREW CONVEYOR

To blast plates down to 4 mm (5/32”) thickness thefollowing adjustments have to be made to themachines: the abrasive valve has to be controlled tolimit the abrasive flow and the turbines are fitted withfrequency controllers to lower the speed of theturbines. Additional rolls have to be added to preventbending of the thin plate inside the machine.

A double screw conveyor brings all the used abrasive to theelevator to be cleaned and re­used.
