A Simple Definition…
An ‘Olympics (or Paralympics) inspired volunteering opportunity is, on a basic level, a new volunteer role that would not exist if London had not been awarded the 2012 Games.
Example…

How we’re going to do it
• Volunteering England are promoting how to create Olympics inspired opportunities with national and regional bodies.
• YouthNet will ensure organisations are able to use www.do-it.org.uk to post their opportunities
• Volunteering opportunities syndicated on wide range of voluntary sector and government websites
![Page 6: Volunteering England and YouthNet Inspiration and Legacy from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022032600/56649dbb5503460f94aad67a/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Our plans to get there…• Seeking out organisations in sport, arts and culture,
and environment• Regional: existing networks, champion
organisations, Regional Implementation Plan, workshops, some one to one support
• National: current and new contacts, some networks and workshops, Stakeholder Advisory Group
• Online guidance: providing step by step guide to creating Olympics inspired opportunities

Be part of the 2012 Games
• Think creatively about how you can use the Olympic and Paralympic Games in your organisation – Why would an Olympics inspired volunteer give their time to your organisation?
• Add your volunteering opportunities via volunteer centres or V-Base! Be part of the 2012 Games.
• Tell others about what they’ll gain from being involved.

What does it look like in 2014?
• Opportunities related to the 2012 Games have been easy to find in one place
• More people have personal 2012 Games volunteering stories
• More individuals continue to seek opportunities through the existing infrastructure
• More organisations regularly use the existing infrastructure – strengthening the voluntary sector’s position and its links with the public
