PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
September has been a busy month in terms of planning, budgeting and
engaging in Federation events. Caralyn returned from the GFWC
Florida Fall Conference with so many great ideas for community
service activities that I hope inspired those at our September meeting.
Book Club Anyone?
Thank you to the leaders who stepped up to Chair & participate in our
Education, International and Arts Community Service Committees. And
welcome to our newest members who bring our membership to 53!
Wow! We started the season with 34 renewed members.
Because we have so much going on, there is a newly designed
VOLUNTEER EVENTS page which consolidates the info. Note that each
event indicates a Chair with whom you should communicate directly
with questions and to sign-up. Remember, we have no expectations.
You volunteer as much or as little as fits your lifestyle. But, newer
members, don’t be shy about getting involved. It’s the best way to get
to know one another.
And there is also a FUNDRAISER section which features opportunities
to earn donations through Honeybaked.com and SmileAmazon.com.
Please use them for your personal business and share with friends and
family.
I look forward to seeing everyone at our October 19th meeting, 1pm AT
THE LEGACY, because the library is booked up with voting. Try to arrive
early to socialize so that we can start on time. See Elaine’s article to
learn about our speaker. Here’s hoping that our weather cools off by
then!
In the Volunteer Spirit!

VICE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE We had a record breaking 40 members and 2 guests attend our September meeting at the New Tampa Regional library! New members, Ellen Lewinsohn, Mendy Westlund and Barbara Rhodes were presented pins and welcomed to the club. So happy to have these wonderful ladies join us!
TENNIS FOR FUN! Dora and Esther Rattes joined us from Tennis For Fun and shared information with our group about their organization. Tennis For Fun (http://tennisforfun.org/) provides free tennis clinics for athletes with special needs. Tennis for Fun is a volunteer organization that provides athletes with an opportunity to have fun playing tennis, to learn basic skills and to socialize with each other. We are THRILLED to sponsor this wonderful group of athletes, providing them with participant t-shirts and over a case of tennis balls. We will also be volunteering at the Tampa Palms location with 2 age groups practicing every Thursday afternoon. If you are interested in volunteering, please notify Elaine Jones– [email protected]. The note below was received from Dora following our meeting, and she asked that it be shared. Hi Elaine, It was very nice to be invited to attend the woman’s club meeting yesterday and the opportunity to talk about the Tennis For Fun organization. Esther really enjoys meeting people that are interested in helping others! I am sure that when we give out the t-shirts/balls donated to us the athletes will feel more like a team! Please send this message to all the GREAT ladies of the woman’s club. Thanks again, Esther & Dora Rattes

VICE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE (CONTINUED)
We have speakers lined up for the October 19th and November 16th meetings; The Children’s Home Society will join us
in October and we will assemble Halloween “treat” bags at the meeting that will be taken to Joshua house residents.
American Cancer Society Hope Lodge will be sharing information in November and we have a couple hands on projects
planned that will hopefully brighten the holiday season for many people.
There’s a full line up of activities planned for the fall, so please look for the scheduled events page in this newsletter
and see where you would like to be involved.
Oh, and don’t forget!
November 5th is the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's. We are partnering with the Legacy team and it’s
not too late to register -or you can support one of our club members who have already committed to join the walk!
