Thank you for the interest you have shown in the ministry of Options. All Volunteer Staff are required to complete one-day training. Volunteer Staff training is scheduled several times each year. I am positive you will be greatly challenged and better equipped to successfully volunteer with Options. In order to participate in training, please complete the following items:

STATEMENT OF FAITH

WE BELIEVE the Bible to be the inspired Word of God.

WE BELIEVE there is only one God eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit

. WE BELIEVE in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His

Statements of Vision and Mission

VISION STATEMENT:

As part of the Body of Christ, Options for Women is a ministry that reaches out to those individuals of southern New Jersey who face a crisis pregnancy. We envision a four-fold responsibility: to the pregnant woman, the unborn child, to those that embrace abortion as a way of life, and to a society that minimizes its responsibility in human relationships. Therefore, we are committed in both word and deed to presenting the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ and the sanctity of human life with in our community.

MISSION STATEMENT:

As part of the body of Jesus Christ, Options mission is to promote the dignity of human life through the delivery of cost free medical services, compassionate and confidential counseling, and education for men and women to make fully informed reproductive health decisions.


PRINCIPLES OF OPERATIONS

* Options, when faced with a choice between the views of society and the Word of God, will not compromise the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

* Those who labor as Options Board members, Directors, Staff, and Volunteer Staff are expected to know Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.

* Options is committed to providing its clients with accurate and complete information about chastity, prenatal development, and abortion.

* Options is committed to absolute integrity in its dealings with those facing crisis pregnancies, its supporters, its vendors, its staff, and the community at large. In this way we will earn their trust by providing promised information and timely services.

* Options will not discriminate in any manner when providing services.

* Options does not recommend, provide, or refer for abortion, abortifacient, or any form of birth control. Married clients seeking contraceptive information will be referred to medical providers or counselors.

* Options offers confidential assistance, free of charge, at all times.

* Options is committed to creating awareness within the local community of the needs of pregnant women, chastity before marriage, and of the compounded human tragedy associated with abortion.

* Options recognizes the validity of adoption as one alternative to abortion, but is not biased toward adoption when compared to other life-saving alternatives.

* Options will not counsel, on an ongoing basis, the “partner” of a client who is married to someone other than the client. However, the appropriate referral will be made.


CALLED vs. CAUSE

The ministry of Options is not, dare I say this, for everyone. There are some who truly believe in the sanctity of life who would not fit here; for a simple reason: we are not a ministry of those who believe in a cause; instead we are a ministry of those who are called. There is a difference, and it is clear.

Many believe in the cause of protecting life, but having a desire for a cause does not necessarily impact lives. However, the called can touch lives for eternity.Those who believe in a cause are out to defeat “the other side”. Those who are called however, seek to reach out to those who may disagree. Cause oriented people want to vanquish their foes. The called desire to win the hearts of those who oppose them.

Those who chase after a cause usually burn out when things don’t go as planned. Those who are called stay faithful, regardless of outcomes. Those involved in a cause get tired, then become frustrated and angry. Those who are called get tired also, but they continue on with the inner joy of knowing they are in the center of God’s will.

Those involved in a cause will often resort to unethical tactics because “the ends justify the means.” The called seek to honor the Lord every step of the way, because they trust Him enough to leave the results in His hands.

Those in the middle of a cause will likely look for ways to be noticed, to be front and center when people gather. The called are rarely seen, because they are too busy touching lives to be concerned about who receives credit.

That’s why this ministry is for the called. Some of you are called to pray fervently, others to give financially and many of you to serve in some capacity. As you do those things, there is no doubt that He is pleased. You probably won’t be on the evening news, but the Lord smiles and that’s good enough for you.

For those who are wondering, perhaps you are called as well. If you are, there is a place here for you. Your calling here will result in changed lives, regardless of how the Lord chooses to work through you.
