Our Mission

With God’s grace, and the cooperation of people from all walks of life, Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity partners with families in need to build and own simple,

decent affordable housing.

Habitat for Humanity is a homeownership program.

• To qualify, partner families must complete 500 hours of “sweat equity”

• In return they pay an affordable mortgage

For every house built by Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity, we tithe $4500 to Habitat for Humanity Guatemala.

Habitat for Humanity:Similar income guidelines, but families are usually in their homes within 12 months, and the solution to the family’s housing crisis is permanent.

Construction Volunteering

You do not need prior construction experience.

Build Days:Wednesday – Saturday year round

All construction volunteers must be 16 years of age or older.

Worksite Culture

Be safe and have fun. Be respectful, courteous, and inclusive. Support partner families working on site. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

No inappropriate language.Alcohol, drugs, smoking, tobacco, and e-cigarettes are prohibited. Observe safety signs and take precaution on site.

What to Bring and What to Wear

• All construction tools are provided

• Bring water and snack• Bring a lunch unless

otherwise advised • Closed toed shoes / boots• Long pants (no shorts!)• Shirt with sleeves • Appropriate clothes for

both construction work and rainy weather.

Using VolunteerUP

• Group volunteers who wish to return to volunteer later as an individual must complete an online volunteer profile.

• Online scheduling can be accessed up to one month in advance.

• If you’re volunteering with a group, make sure you check the box next to your group name.
