Community MakerSpace Assumption School supports STEM Education. We are closer than ever to be a 1-to-1 blended learning school. Starting from the ground up, our true fiber optic internet service and WiFi network are state of the art that most tech companies can only dream to have. We have iPads for the lower grade students including TK, MacBook Air laptops for the higher elementary grade students, and Chromebooks for our middle school students. They currently learn reading to math to coding to building in Minecraft all while learning to use, produce, and be safe using technology. Moving forward, we are deconstructing the old computer lab to its bare walls, and building a new Maker Space. The concept and design of this new exciting space was conceived from the mind of one of our students. The effort is lead and supported by a student Design and Engineering Team along with Mr. Gonsalves, Mr. Deonigi, Mr. McLinden, Ms. Leong, and Mr. Suwandi. The space will support four learning areas:
• Computing / AI• 3D Printing• Digital Multimedia & Broadcasting• Robotics
Last month I presented the concept to our Foundation, inviting them to explore and pursue funding that will allow us to transition the space quickly. If however, they are unsuccessful in this effort we will plan for fundraising events to raise money for the needed purchase of equipment. Thank you to the Donchuanchom family who has already begun donating some needed computers for the space. When the space opens in 2019, it will be available as an exploring, teaching, and learning environment for the students. Together, we can truly do great things.
St. Nick’s Boutique Shopping SuccessMany thanks to the Assumption School community for supporting St. Nick's Boutique last week! Every year we gather together for this fantastic fundraiser that celebrates the spirit of giving and which benefits the preschoolers at Davis Street Family Resource Center. Thanks to Assumption families' generous donations of their time and gifts, the small hall was transformed into a gorgeous holiday boutique that overflowed with wonderful new and used items that kids could purchase as gifts for their loved ones. This year, the Boutique raised more than $5,000 for Davis Street, which now depends on the event to provide a hot breakfast year-round for 60 low-income preschoolers. Assumption School is proud to support this important program for the community while teaching our kids the power of giving and, in the process, the true spirit of Christmas. Thank you, Assumption School -- and Davis Street thanks you too!

TROJAN NEWS We are Socially Responsible Citizens, Effective Communicators, Life Long Learners,
and Active Christians who build community and make peace.
Prayer Advent Candle of Hope Our hope is in God, and in his Son Jesus Christ. Jesus is the one appointed by God to be judge over all things. He is the one through whom God has promised to save and redeem his people. We light today’s candle to remind us that Jesus is our hope, and the hope of the world. We thank God for the promises he has made to us and for the light he has brought into the world.Let us pray. O God of Hope, Emmanuel, we pray that you will send your light into our hearts during this season of Advent. Help us to be ready for the day and the hour of Christ’s final appearing. Live in us and help us to live in you. By the power of the Holy Spirit, transform us so that our worship, our celebration, and our time of preparation may be pleasing unto you, both now and forevermore.
Amen.ReflectionMay you love and be loved, embracing its many forms.May you know boundless, roomy love, layered in moments both tiny and grand, leaving your capacious heartall the biggerto love and love more.

One sign is at the intersections of Sybil and Evergreen. The second is at Bancroft and 136th Ave. You may not have noticed the old ones because they were very hard to see. The old signs have a lot of history and they directed people to our parish and school for many years. The new signs will complement current outreach and branding efforts. Practically, the signs will direct people to our wonderful parish and school events. A big thank you to Kisitina and Tom Venegas for leading the design and to the Dads’ Club for funding and spearheading the project. Saint Vincent de Paul FoodOur Saint Vincent de Paul Christmas Food Drive ends tomorrow, Thursday, December 6. Please be sure to bring in the all goods, as we typically provide a Christmas meal for 20-35 families. See flyer. The 12 Days of ……….InstagramOur 8th grade students have taken over our school’s Instagram account. For the next 12 days visit https://www.instagram.com/assumptionschoolsl/?hl=en to see the world of Assumption through the lens of our students in the Class of 2019.Science FairThursday, December 13, our middle school scientists will be presenting approximately 40 science fair projects in the gym.
