As part of clearing dangerous ar- eas that pose a threat to the civil- ian population, the 205th Corps destroyed three enemy bases which included both weapons and vehicles as well as destroying 11 mines, said the 205th Corps spokesman. Kandahar Deputy Governor Muneeb recently stated ” Over 100 terrorists have been arrested in the last few months. The se- curity forces have taken extreme precaution not to inflict casualties on civilians but the Taliban try to hide behind them.” Since the release of the Taliban spring offensive there has been increased reporting of Taliban activity which has posed an in- creased threat to the civilian pop- ulation to include the threat of civilian deaths due to IEDs. Clearing mines has been a focus of the new security plan for the 205th Corps to make the roads safe for citizens to travel freely without the threat of bombs along the road.
