KABUL - The Iranian foreign minister has appointed a senior diplomat as his special assistant on Afghanistan.IRNA reported FM Mohammad Javad Zarif named on Monday Mohammad Ebrahim as Tehran’s special assistant for Afghanistan.The diplomat has previously served as Iran’s ambassador to Afghanistan, Bosnia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Croatia and Turkey, according to the news agency.Afghanistan and Iran enjoy ro-bust political and economic links. KABUL - The 205th Corps of the Afghan Military has announced that the New Security Plan of the Ministry of Defense is proving fruitful for the armed forces in the southern regions of the country as 37 militants have been killed and 9 others have sustained in-juries during the operations in Uruzgan, Kandahar, and Zabul provinces.As part of clearing dangerous ar-eas that pose a threat to the civil-ian population, the 205th Corps destroyed three enemy bases which included both weapons and vehicles as well as destroying 11 mines, said the 205th Corps spokesman.Kandahar Deputy Governor Muneeb recently stated ” Over 100 terrorists have been arrested in the last few months. The se-curity forces have taken extreme precaution not to inflict casualties on civilians but the Taliban try to hide behind them.”Since the release of the Taliban spring offensive there has been increased reporting of Taliban activity which has posed an in-creased threat to the civilian pop-ulation to include the threat of civilian deaths due to IEDs.Clearing mines has been a focus of the new security plan for the 205th Corps to make the roads safe for citizens to travel freely without the threat of bombs along the road. KABUL - The German Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development (BMZ) committed to investing about AFN 5.1 billion (EUR 59 million) in Afghanistan, focusing on good governance, sustainable economic development as well as ur-ban development and municipal infrastructure.An additional AFN 8.7 billion (EUR 100 million) will be allocated to the Afghanistan Reconstruc-tion Trust Fund (ARTF).In return for investments, Germany expects the Afghan government to meet its commitments to carry out reforms when it comes to fighting cor-ruption, preventing violence against women, pro-moting women’s rights and equal opportunities, as well as transparency in the mining and extrac-tives sector.Therefore, AFN 5.2 billion (EUR 60 million) of the envisaged total commitment of AFN 8.7 bil-lion (EUR 100 million) allocated to ARTF will be subject to the implementation of jointly agreed re-forms. KABUL - The Ministry of Energy and Water on Tuesday asked construction companies to invest in the energy sector, but the Construction Compa-nies Association claimed only blue-eyed compa-nies received project contracts.Acting Water and Energy Minister Eng. KABUL - The government of Afghani-stan has prepared the list of 250 people, including some women, political fig-ures and government officials to attend the upcoming peace talks with the Tali-ban representatives in Doha, the capital of Qatar, expected to open on Friday, said a statement of Presidential Media Relations office on Tuesday.

The delegation, according to the state-ment, includes representatives from po-litical parties, Jihadi leaders, religious scholars, families of martyrs, govern-ment-owned peace council, legislators, civil society, women, youths, journal-ists, government officials and tribal el-ders.President Ashraf Ghani’s aide Amrul-
