DAV POLICE PUBLIC SCHOOL, HISAR
Dear readers,
It gives me an immense pleasure to introduce you to “REFLECTION” a
bimonthly magazine of DAV Police Public School, Hisar. A wonderful initiative
taken by Principal and students. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to
pen down their ideas and values. Wishing all the success and good luck for
magazine.
My best wishes for this and all future endeavors
S. Nijhawan

DAV POLICE PUBLIC SCHOOL, HISAR
Dearest readers,
It is a matter of immense pride for us to bring you the first edition of our school magazine
“Reflection”. This edition has been possible only because of the great support and
enthusiasm of our students and staff.
This first edition happens to coincide with the month of the Independence Day.
Accordingly, we've chosen to name this magazine "Reflection-प्रतितिम्ब" in the spirit of the
values we endeavour to inculcate in all our students-independence, introspection and
creativity. Like all great things we're starting out small. With the passing of time, we expect
this magazine to grow and become a regular feature of our school, thus providing our
students a much-required opportunity to showcase their creative talents. Until then, we
count on your continued support and constructive feedback.
Happy reading!
Regards
Dr. Indu Sharma
(Principal)
Mahatma Gandhi has said “Freedom is never
dear at any price. It is the breath of life. What
would a man not pay for living?”
But Independence is quite different from
freedom and it must be seen and understood
differently. Every living being want freedom
and it is his birth right. Freedom of living life
according to his own norms, freedom of
thought, freedom of speech and many more.
Whereas independence mean being strong and
able to survive alone.
Independence is essential for every Nation and
its country men to progress and prosper. India
celebrates Independence Day on 15th August
every year because it gained Independence
from British Empire on 15th August 1947.
Our Independence gives us the reason to enjoy
our fundamental rights. But we must not forget
that with rights comes our duty towards our
nation.
On this Independence Day I wish that all of us
become free from our prejudices towards
others. Let us promise to be good human
beings, serve our country with all dedication,
save the resources of the country and let's
celebrate this Independence Day by promoting
a human rights culture in which respect,
dignity and equality become a code for living.
Happy Independence!

We're going through a strange era. It is the most connected we
have ever been and yet we feel so disconnected. The social
media started out as a fun way to connect with the old friends
and make new ones, but eventually the social media have taken
over our lives. The craving to be constantly connected and
updated through social media is so compulsive, that it has led us
to neglect the real world and merely focus on impressing the
world of social media. In this race of impressing others through
our social media accounts, we are in a continuous race to hide all
our imperfections and cover them up with fake perfections.
A variety of filters have provided us with the ability to hide
nearly all our imperfections. At times, more filters and images
are used by us than the number of words used by us in actual
conversation with people around us. Laughter, which is by its
very nature laced with the warmth of friendship, has been
reduced to just an emoji. We might not bother to crack a smile in
the real world, but on our social media we are so keen to project
a happy face, even if we're actually crying inside. It seems that
the social media has no place for our imperfections. In the
chasing of this ever-so-far perfection, we often forget that our
little imperfections make us who we are and it is important to
embrace our real selves and be comfortable with that.
This month of our nation's freedom will, like always, see the
raising of a million fluttering tri-colours. However we have
made ourselves slaves to fake perfection, which is far more
problematic than our imperfections. In this month, when we
celebrate the freedom of our nation can we be free from our
futile pursuit of fake perfection and celebrate our imperfections?
It surely would be an appropriate time to find courage to fight
this fake perfection and raise the flag of imperfections.
Let's give a big shout-out to all the imperfections we have within
us and break all the shackles that our perceived need to be
perfect has created. It is the time to free ourselves from the
slavery of the world of social media and enjoy our freedom in
the actual social world. Let's vow to be more real and to create
better relationships. Let's break out from all the filters we use
and enjoy our originality, our uniqueness, and our imperfections.
Let's be thankful for the liberty that our freedom gives us and
choose to use it for some real good in the actual world, rather
than just trying to appear good on social media.
Happy freedom to you!

“FREEDOM IS NOT WORTH HAVING, IF IT DOESN'T INCLUDE THE FREEDOM TO MAKE MISTAKES.” BY: ‘GARMIA (XII SCI.) & KAJAL (XII ARTS)’
If someone holds a butterfly high in his
hands the butterfly will die, definitely she
deserves to fly, she deserves freedom just
like a butterfly the students also want
freedom. In life freedom from pressure
given by parents and teachers, freedom
from the expectations, freedom from the
exam fear. We know you are possessive
for our studies, you want our future to be
bright but that does not only involve
studies. It involves the creativity and new
thinking.
A student wants that the mind should be
his own and it should not be controlled by
anyone else. If he wants to focus on
something his mind must be available and
whenever he wants to have off time he
can have 100% off time. All this can be
developed if student approach to the study
freely and can think rationally without
fear of marks and fear of society.
We want freedom from the relatives and
friends who come in our home uninvited
and only ask about grades. We want
freedom from the embarrassment when a
comparison is done with the others.
Every child is unique and has a unique
talent. We cannot make a fish fly and a
dog swim.
