You” for your support ofFellowship this year. We relyupon donations to produce andpublish Faith Magazine, and thestrong support our Membersmake is key. We couldn’t do itwithout you.

We hope you will continuewriting us in the New Year to letus know what’s going on in yourlife and how you are doing. Youjust might see one of your let-ters featured in FAITH, like ourFriend Cindy L. from Idaho. OnPage 11 she wrote how shebecame lost in a snowbank andbegan to pray for God’s help to getout. “Well, I don’t mind telling you, I

was scared,” Cindy told us. “Itwas only a couple hours beforedark and the temperature wassupposed to drop below freezing. Itried calling for help on my cellphone, but couldn’t get any recep-tion. What could I do to get help, Iwondered? And then I realized itwas important to stay calm, so Itook a deep breath . . . and beganto pray . . . suddenly I remem-bered reading somewhere thattexts sent by phone sometimescan reach their destinationalthough a phone call won’t. So, Itried texting my sister about mypredicament and told her where Iwas to the best of my knowledge.I waited for an hour, bundled upin my coat not knowing what elseto do, when I saw headlightsapproaching on the road. It was atow truck!”

Likewise, on Page 15 ChristineH. of New York recalled how she

got married at age 17 and had 10children and an abusive hus-band by age 39! “It was a bad marriage,”

Christine said. “My husbanddrank and ran the street. Mychildren and I had a very hardtime, but God and Fellowshipbrought us through.”We hope you’ll also enjoy our

feature articles in this FaithMagazine, like the one on Page 12that notes Jesus taught if youwant to be happy and get alongwell with others, then don’tbecome fixated on what’s wrongin your own life. Yes, there’s a little something

for everyone in this Holiday edi-tion of FAITH. We’re proud ofthis year’s magazines, and arealready working on what we’regoing to write and talk aboutnext year. YOU are the center ofthat conversation, Dear Friend,so let us hear from you in 2018!

It’s Christmastime, DearMember, and we know you areworking hard to clean, cook andget ready for company. Here are afew tips from your FellowMembers to make this time ofyear more fun and less tiring!

* * *

MAKE AHEAD DINNERChristmas dinner is a wonderfultradition filled with delightfulsmells, tastes, family and/orfriends. And if it’s your turn to bethe dinner host, you may bepleased to learn you can prepareseveral foods ahead of time tomake the task easier. Forinstance, you can make a tastyChristmas gravy long before thatspecial day. Stuffing also can bemade and frozen ahead of time,so once it is defrosted, it can bepopped into the oven. Braised redcabbage also is a good choice for amake-ahead side dish. Its flavorimproves over time. Keep it a fewdays in the fridge, and it willreheat just fine.

* * *A SEASONAL SWAG

What can you do with all thoseChristmas Cards? Try staplingthem to long ribbons and hangthe ribbons over doorways. It cre-ates a colorful swag that sets offyour home for the holidays, andshows off your creative touch as

well. Each ribbon swag or banneryou make will be different!

* * *

FESTIVE FINERY For a festive approach to yourhome, line the driveway or door-way with homemade luminaries. All you need to make your ownare white paper bags, pebbles, and battery-powered LED candlelights. To add to the festive spirit, drapeyour mailbox with greenery andribbon!

* * *

TREE SAP REMOVERTo get tree sap off your handsafter putting up the Christmastree, first wet your hands withwater, sprinkle on some dry bak-ing soda, rub them together andrinse. As an alternative, you alsocan rub your hands with plainvegetable oil, and then wash withsoap and water.

* * *

HOMEMADE ORNAMENTSCollect pretty fringes and trims, and use white glue to attach themas beautiful borders forChristmas cards. Then, simplypunch a hole in the top of thecard and you’ve created a lovelyholiday decoration! You also canre-use old holiday cards by recy-cling them into gift tags.

It’s that time of the yearagain, Dear Member! It’sChristmastime! All the trappings and joys of

this special season are here . .the scent of savory foods, cheer-ful colored lights and decora-tions and Christmas trees withgifts underneath and stockingshanging from the mantle. But those are the superficial

signs of Christmas, DearFriend, and we want to explorethe real meaning of the season. We invite you to look at

Christmas in a new way thisyear. It’s a time to welcome thespirit of Jesus into your heart, for that will truly bring you a"Merry Christmas." The story of Christmas is

about God showing His love forus, His Children. He sent Jesusto us as a symbol of truth, loveand hope . . . a symbol whobrought salvation to everyone. That’s why Christmas is a

time of spiritual renewal, notjust within the walls of yourchurch, but everywhere aroundyou, Fellow Member. It is a timefor renewing old friendships andthe family bonds of kinship. Forwhen we renew our faith in oth-ers, we also reaffirm it withinourselves. Yes, just as the birth of Jesus

brought joy to all who learned ofit, we can be joyful at

Christmastime knowing theLord is there for us as well! Nomatter what is happening in ourlives, we are God’s Children, andHe stands ready to help us withwhatever we ask. Throughprayer, we may seek the Lord’sblessings, and know with cer-tainty that He will answer whenthe time is right.

Just knowing that brings uspeace! It means we wake up feel-ing content and free of worry, because God has our back. Ifproblems become too hard foryou to handle, simply turn themover to Him through sincereprayer. The joy and peace you receive

will last all year as you look toGod for all your needs to be met.

Invite The Spirit Of Jesus Into YourHeart For A Merry Christmas!

“All Of A Sudden, I Felt The Car Start To Skid!”

My Fellowship Friends, I have aChristmas story that’s a little dif-ferent than most. Instead of talk-ing about what I was making forChristmas dinner, I want to tellyou how the Lord saved me fromfreezing in a snowbank! That’sright, without His help I mightnot be here today telling youabout what happened. Several years ago, I was driving

back from visiting an old friendwho lived out in the country. Itwas just a few weeks beforeChristmas and I wanted to seeher. So, just as I was leaving itbegan to snow, and at first it asjust beautiful . . . evergreens andbare trees dusted with white. I wasn’t worried because I’ve

driven in snow all my life, and Ihad a good set of snow tires onmy car. I figured I would be homebefore dark without a problem. As you might have guessed,

things didn’t turn out like I hadthought. The wind picked up andstarted blowing snow across theroad. All of a sudden, I felt the carstart to skid! There must havebeen ice on the road beneath thecovering of snow, and my car slidoff into a roadside ditch. Well, I don’t mind telling you, I

was scared. It was only a couplehours before dark and the temper-ature was supposed to drop belowfreezing. I tried calling for help onmy cell phone, but couldn’t getany reception. What could I do to

get help, I wondered? And then Irealized it was important to staycalm, so I took a deep breath . . .and began to pray. “Lord, I really need Your help,”

I said. “I’ve gotten myself in apickle here and don’t know howto get out.” I prayed for severalminutes, and then looked up.Outside it was all white. I couldn’ttell where I was. And then, sud-denly I remembered readingsomewhere that texts sent byphone sometimes can reach theirdestination although a phone callwon’t. So, I tried texting my sisterabout my predicament and toldher where I was to the best of myknowledge. I waited for an hour, bundled up in my coat not know-ing what else to do, when I sawheadlights approaching on theroad. It was a tow truck! I jumped out and waved them

down, and was delighted to seemy sister get out of the truck andhug me! My car was towed backhome, none the worse for wear. I truly believe God put the

thought in my head to text forhelp, and made sure the messagegot to my sister! He saved my lifethat day!

We have talked aboutChristmastime bringing joy andrenewing faith, Dear Member, but for many this season bringsmelancholy instead. It mayremind you of a loved one whowas lost, or of friends and fami-ly who live far away.

Scenarios like that can makeyou feel lonely and isolated, especially when others aroundyou seem to be enjoying them-selves. If you see yourself inthat description, we know some-one who can help. Yes, Jesus canshow you how not to be lonel . . .by His teachings and the exam-ple of His life. He was pleasantto almost everyone and neverappeared lonely.

Jesus taught if you want to behappy, and get along well withothers, then don’t become fixat-ed on what’s wrong in your life.

Instead, focus on helping others, and you will find the problemsyou thought about constantlyhave receded in importance.Treating other folks withpatience, kindness and encour-agement goes a long way towardcuring loneliness, Dear Friend!

Yes, you will soon find otherpeople actually want to bearound you, and appreciate yourgood points. When you go out ofyour way to give of your timeand energy to others, youreceive that benefit back overand over.

Suppose your job requires youto move to a new place. Wouldyou sit in the house by yourself, afraid to go outside and meetpeople? Well, of course not, because that is practically arecipe for loneliness. No, youwould join a church or organiza-tion to meet new people whoshare your interests, or chal-lenge the way you think. Don’twait for the perfect person tocome to you, Dear Member, because you’ll wait forever.

You can pray for the Lord tohelp you find new friends, andHe will oblige by providing theopportunity. Then, it’s up to youto follow through.

Soon, you will notice you nolonger feel lonely, because whenyou give of yourself, good peoplewant to be your friend!

When You Give Of Yourself, You Make New Friends!

Dear Friends at Life-StudyFellowship, I wanted to send youthis letter to let you know thatthe Lord does answer prayers.I have an old Ford

Thunderbird with over 98,000miles. Even though that car isold and has lots of miles, I stilllike it. However, this past year Ive

had to put approximately $1,000into it to fix engine problems.About a month and a half ago, Ihad problems with it again.Thank the Lord I know someonewho is a mechanic. The problemwas in the engine again and costabout $125. About three weeksafter I had that problemrepaired, my “Check Engine”light came on gain.I was so upset because I didn’t

want to put any more moneyinto the car. So, what I did waspray to the Lord, saying that Heis the best mechanic around andto please fix whatever is wrongwith my car. I knew that Hecould fix it and that He knewwhat the problem was.Approximately two days later,

my “Check Engine” light wentoff and it has not come on sincethen! I thank the Lord every dayfor answering my prayers, andfor making sure that I had themoney to pay for repairs! I alsothank Him for my dear friendsin Life-Study Fellowship!

Dear “Faith Partners,”During a recent visit to

California, my aunt introducedme to Fellowship’s FaithMagazine. She explained to mehow much she enjoyed andreceived comfort from corre-sponding with you. I broughthome a copy of your publicationso I could read it and possiblybecome a Member. On my return flight home to

Georgia, I began reading FAITH.It was very informative, sharingand “faith building.” It was espe-cially helpful on the last leg ofmy trip. On takeoff, the smallcommuter airplane in which Ihad boarded had to “abort” itstakeoff. So, we taxied back to thegate. The ground crew met theairplane and did some quickrepairs. As we left for a secondtry at flight our attendant said tothe ground crew, “Well, I guesswe’ll try it again.”After that statement all of us

passengers were a bit nervousabout taking the flight. Even I,after having spent many yearsin the Air Force, had begun tothink about alternate trans-portation. I remembered that Ihad been reading FAITH, so Ipulled it out and came uponPsalm 23. One of your Membershad explained each verse and Ifound comfort in reading it.Ifound comfort in reading God’sassurance that He would“always be my Shepherd.”

Dear Fellowship Friends, Ijust want to say thanks to youfor praying with me all throughthe years. I got married at age17, and by the time I was 39 yearsold I had 10 children. It was abad marriage. My husbanddrank and ran the street. Mychildren and I had a very hardtime, but God and Fellowshipbrought us through. I just love you so much. Your

sweet letters and prayers helpedme to keep all my children withme. They are now all grown anddoing well. I started reading Faith

Fellowship has changed mywhole point of view on God! Infact, Fellowship has changed mywhole life. Let me tell you, myDear Friends, what I mean. The way I was raised I always

thought of God as an angry Godwho would shut you off com-pletely if you committed a sin,no matter how small. Since I joined Fellowship, I

don’t picture God like that at all.I feel as if I understand Godmore. I see Him from the stand-point of a Father, and think ofHim as far more loving and kindthan I used to. As you say in Faith Magazine,

God wants us, His children, to behappy and healthy and prosper-ous as any good father on Earthwould wish for his children. My folks used to say that when

a person did not obey the Lord’sCommandments, they would not“get to Heaven.” But, now Iknow that He is far more lovingin the sense that even if youhave sinned and sincerelyrepent, our Father will listen toyour prayer. His Heart is openfor the prayers of any of Hischildren. Now, I realize more than ever

that God loves me! I have morefaith and trust in Him. I knownow that it was a blessing thatmade me discover ourFellowship in the first place. I

know that when we pray to Godit makes Him very happy. I knowI do pray more since I joinedFellowship, and I pray to Him ina happy and contented way. I thank Fellowship not only

for the way you have changedmy life, not just for FaithMagazine, the prayers and giftsyou have sent . . . but for thewhole new way of life you haveopened up for me! For example, Ireceived this month’s FaithMagazine and now I understandmore about the saying I hadheard all my life -- “to give is toreceive.” I enjoy reading all ofthe features in each FAITH andpass them along to others. So, you see that all in all, Life-

Study Fellowship has been a realgodsend to me in every sense ofthe word. God sent you to meand you sent me to God!How can I ever thank you Dear

Members enough? How can Iever pray enough for all of you!

Some Members have inquiredabout how they might make abequest to Life-Study Fellowship.Through the years, many

Members have chosen to remem-ber our Fellowship in this spe-cial way and we are truly grate-ful. Some Members have includ-ed Fellowship in their wills, while others have named Life-Study Fellowship in their lifeinsurance policies. If you are interested in making

arrangements through your will,we suggest you talk with anattorney who can explain the taxadvantages and ways to go aboutmaking such a bequest.

Please remember that it is toeverybody’s advantage to have awill. This doesn’t apply just tothe very wealthy. The truth iseveryone who owns any propertyneeds a will to direct who shouldbenefit. Otherwise, some or all of your

property will be split up accord-ing to state law which may leaveyour property in ways you didnot want or intend. Therefore, whether or not you

include a bequest to Life-StudyFellowship, we encourage you toseek the services of an attorneyto have a will drawn up if youhave not already done so.

The First Noel

The First Noel the angel did sayWas to certain poor shepherdsin fields as they lay;In fields as they lay, keeping their sheep,On a cold winter's night that was so deep.

Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel,Born is the King of Israel.

They looked up and saw a starShining in the east beyond them far,And to the earth it gave great light,And so it continued both day and night.

And by the light of that same starThree wise men came from country far;To seek for a king was their intent,And to follow the star wherever it went.

This star drew nigh to the northwest,O'er Bethlehem it took it’s rest,And there it did both stop and stayRight over the place where Jesus lay.

The joy of the Christmas sea-son is such a special time ofyear, Dear Member. And we wantto commemorate it by dis-cussing how could can get thatChristmas feeling even if you’renot really in the mood. Now, we know people aren’t

always happy and jumping forjoy! Far from it. From job pres-sures, to family feuds, to moneyproblems, folks are oftenstressed today. Many days youmight go to work in the morn-ing, dragging your feet. Or, youmight be dreading your dailychores. So, what’s the best way to over-

come those negative feelings? InFellowship, we suggest whenyou leave your home you “go outin joy!” Now, hear us out. Wedon’t mean to make light of any-thing that’s troubling you. Butremember that whenever a per-son of faith walks out the door, the living presence of the Lordgoes with him or her! Whenever you need guidance,

or help of any kind, God will bewith you to answer your prayers. If you look, and listen, carefully, you will see Him working inyour life, making things betterfor you. Truly, you are surround-ed by God’s love and His calmingpresence. Not only that, but the positive

energy of the United Prayers ofyour Fellow Members works foryou as well. Their Daily Prayers

are a powerful message to theLord, and certainly a force forgood in the lives of everyonewho takes part in them. So you see, Dear Friend, there

are good reasons for you to “goout in joy” when you leave home.Even if you have an unpleasantsituation to deal with, you knowyou will never have to handle italone. God is with you always, and the prayers of yourFellowship Friends are there aswell. Knowing that, you can step

outside your home with confi-dence that you will be able todeal with whatever comes yourway in life.

You Can Be Confident The Lord Is By Your Side!

My ReligionI don’t discuss religion much,I wouldn’t if I could;I know I hate to draw a lineBetween what’s bad and good.

I’m not much on philosophy,The books I’ve never read;I had to get the things I knowFrom life that’s hard indeed.

But when I have a cheer togive,Or extra strength to lend,I get me out and help alongSomeone who needs a friend.

God guided us for a whole yearin our property problem, so thatnot once did we worry about thenext step we should take. Here’smy story about that.About seven years ago welearned that a freeway was goingto take our property, along withothers on the block. Faced withthe problem, we did not get excit-ed as the other neighbors, butdecided instead, as goodMembers of Life-StudyFellowship, to place the decisionin the Hands of God. In the meantime, many neigh-

bors started selling their houses. Many of them neglected theirproperties and let them get shab-bier and shabbier. We continuedto keep our place up, and evengave it a coat of paint!

Time after time, we wereadvised to move or sell -- that wewould not get a good deal if westayed on. But still, I retained myfaith in God, and started readingFellowship’s book “With God AllThings Are Possible,” especially

the chapter and prayer on “HowTo Handle Your Property.”I knew that God would show us

how to sell the property so thatsomeone would get it who neededit, regardless of what we wouldprofit from it.

We finally decided to buy thehouse back from the freeway, forGod seemed to speak to usstrongly about that. Well, timewent on until we had only 90 daysto get out. Yet still we waited forGod’s guidance. One day, a nice family drove up

and asked if I wanted to sell myhouse. They were from out oftown and quite well off. Theywanted the house for their agedmother, and wanted to move it tothe country. Her own house wasold and she was attached to it anddid not want to give it up. The next day they brought their

mother, who was a sprightly 80.She fell in love with our houseand said she would like to have it.They accepted the price andwrote out a check just like that.We immediately went ahead withour own plans to build a three-bedroom brick house. So you see,God worked it all out in His won-derful way, and you dear peoplein Fellowship worked with Himand us. We never had a moment’s worryall year. God bless you!
