VOLUME 77 MARCH, APRIL, MAY 2017 NO. 2 Our 77th Year! THE OFFICIAL MAGAZINE OF LIFE-STUDY FELLOWSHIP, NOROTON, CT., U.S.A. The spiritual renewal of Easter is on our minds as we wel- come you to this special edition of Faith Magazine, Dear Friend. As you see above, our FAITH theme relates to Jesus’ Last Supper with His Disciples, in which He told them God had sent Him to establish a New Covenant with mankind. This New Covenant, also known as the New Testament, taught the faith- ful that God would forgive and restore fellowship with all whose hearts and minds were filled with faith in Him. That New Covenant with mankind, discussed on Page 5 of this FAITH, offers us the chance to reflect on Jesus’ messages about the forgiveness of our sins, as well as the importance of faith in our lives. For without faith, we cannot truly know or become close to the Lord. Nor would we be able to seek His The Last Supper!

THE OFFICIAL MAGAZINE OFLIFE-STUDY FELLOWSHIP, NOROTON, CT., U.S.A.

The spiritual renewal ofEaster is on our minds as we wel-come you to this special editionof Faith Magazine, Dear Friend. As you see above, our FAITH

theme relates to Jesus’ LastSupper with His Disciples, inwhich He told them God had sentHim to establish a New Covenantwith mankind. This NewCovenant, also known as theNew Testament, taught the faith-ful that God would forgive and

restore fellowship with all whosehearts and minds were filledwith faith in Him. That New Covenant with

mankind, discussed on Page 5 ofthis FAITH, offers us the chanceto reflect on Jesus’ messagesabout the forgiveness of our sins,as well as the importance offaith in our lives. For withoutfaith, we cannot truly know orbecome close to the Lord. Norwould we be able to seek His

The Last Supper!

guidance in prayer, withoutbelieving in His power to changeour lives.

St. Thomas Aquinas, a 13thCentury Italian theologian andCatholic priest, also wrote ahymn titled “On the night of theLast Supper,” which you’ll see onPage 19. In fact, Jesus neverstopped teaching God’s lessons,even in His last meal on thisEarth.His message about the impor-

tance of forgiveness, whichJesus granted to those who mis-treated him, was not lost onFellowship Member Anna G. ofGeorgia. On Page 7 she wroteabout forgiving a girl who acci-dentally threw a ball that hit andinjured her daughter: “I was still angry when I

decided to go to church oneSunday, in hopes I’d feel better.Would you believe it, the preach-er’s sermon that day was aboutforgiveness!” Anna recalled. “Hetalked about how Jesus askedGod to forgive those who beatand crucified Him. That mademe think . . . if Jesus could for-give, how could I hold a grudge?” Also in this Faith Magazine,

you will read the dramatic storyof how Member Carrie W.believes God spoke to her andguided her to steer her car awayfrom an oncoming train. “It turned out the railroad sig-

nal had broken down, and theconductor told me it was a mira-cle my car had not collided withhis train,” Carrie writes on Page31. “If it had, he said we wouldall have been killed by the

impact.“I have no doubt it was the

Lord’s voice I heard in my headthat day, telling me to turn thecar. He heard my prayer andrushed to help!”Yes, Dear Friend, it goes with-

out saying that God plays a bigrole in the lives of those whobelieve in Him. Likewise, it isthe New Covenant with manthat Jesus brought down to theWorld which makes it a kinder,better place. Those messages of faith are the

guiding light by which we runour Fellowship, Dear Member.We want to be a Friend to all whoread our publications and writeto us. We hope you find this Easterissue of Faith Magazine an invit-ing, warm example of our welcom-ing philosophy. As always, wewould love to hear from you, so letus know how you are doing thisyear!

God Leads Us To Improve OurLives In Many Different Ways! Jesus never stopped teaching

God’s lessons, even in His lastmeal on this Earth.Yes, Dear Member, His mes-

sage was simple and clear, thatGod had sent His only Son,Jesus, to establish a NewCovenant with mankind. ThisNew Covenant, also known asthe New Testament, establishedthat God would forgive andrestore fellowship with allwhose hearts and minds werefilled with faith in Him. We see that spelled out in the

Book of Luke, Chapter 22: 19-20,where Jesus speaks during theLast Supper. . .“And He tookbread, and gave thanks, andbrake it, and gave unto them,saying, ‘This is My Body whichis given for you: this do inremembrance of Me.’Likewise also the cup after

supper, saying, ‘This cup is the

New Testament in My blood,which is shed for you.’” Just think what an incredibly

different idea this was at a timewhen forgiveness wasn’t a com-mon emotion. People often car-ried grudges and were likely totry and get even with othersback then. Jesus wanted to change all

that as he preached the Lord’snew message. In the Book of Ezekiel, God

Himself talks about the “newheart” and “new spirit” He willinstill in everyone who believesin Him. “A new heart also will I give

you, and a new spirit will I putwithin you: and I will take awaythe stony heart out of your flesh,and I will give you an heart offlesh.“And I will put My spirit with-

in you, and cause you to walk inMy statutes, and ye shall keepMy judgments, and do them.“And ye shall dwell in the land

that I gave to your fathers; andye shall be My people, and I willbe your God.” ~Ezekiel 36:26-28What a wonderful idea, to

start life over with a new, forgiv-ing heart and new spiritual lifefilled with faith in God! It’s away of life that brings peace andcontentment to all who pursueit, Dear Friend. That’s becausewe know the Lord is with usalways, showering us with love.

It’s Spring Cleaning time, and noone does that better than ourFellowship Friends. Whetherthey’re cleaning or organizing,the result is a spotless home. Weinvite you to try out some of theseHelpful Hints, Dear Member, andbe sure to share some of yourown household tips with us!

* * *LOW SUDS

If you have poured too muchdetergent powder into themachine, sprinkle salt into thewater to settle the soap suds.

* * *NO-SMELL GARAGE

Remove musty and oily odorsfrom the garage floor by spread-ing grass cuttings on them for afew hours.

* * *LOOSEN UP

Loosen a rusted bolt by applyinga cloth soaked in a carbonatedsoda to the rusted bolt for severalminutes.

* * *

DISHWASHER REFRESHMold or mildew usually is the cul-prit when dishwashers developunpleasant odors. Pour severalcups of standard household vine-gar into the bottom of the dish-washer, and let it sit for an hour.Then run the dishwasherthrough a full cycle. You don’t

need to add soap. The vinegarshould kill any mold and mildew.

* * *

KEYBOARD CLEANUP Remove individual keys to cleanand wipe the underside with amicrofiber cloth. Some keys havesprings and it might be tough toget them back in place. Lay anextra place mat over the keyboard(when not using) to prevent dust,dirt and pet hair from getting onor in it. Keep food or drinks awayfrom your computer, too.

* * *NO-STICK STAMPS

When postage stamps have stucktogether, try placing them intothe freezer for about 10 minutes –they should come apart withoutdamaging the glue.

* * *

SPOTLESS STERLING Sterling silver and stainless steelcan be washed by hand or in thedishwasher. If you put them inthe dishwasher, don’t place theutensils in the same basket withstainless steel because this coulddamage the sterling. If you putsterling or silver-plate (no hollow-handled knives) in the dishwash-er, stop the machine before thedrying cycle and take them out tohand dry. For regular care, a goodquality silver cream or polish willyield excellent results.

As I sit in church today, I’mreminded of a sermon thattouched my heart long ago, andchanged the course of my life.Oh, I know that sounds so dra-

matic! But believe me when I saythe words I heard that day reallydid make me think about my lifeand how I was living it. My story starts about eight

years ago. I had a good job andwas delighted I had raised twowonderful daughters. Both ofthem were active in their schoolsports, and were good students.Life-Study Fellowship has beenpart of my life ever since myown mother introduced me toFaith Magazine, and so I did thesame with my girls. We were sohappy, and I figured we alwayswould be. But life has a way ofthrowing you a curve now andthen. My two girls played on their

women’s softball team and Iloved cheering them on. Onesummer night, my youngestdaughter, Sarah, was pitching.One of the other team’s best hit-ters took a mighty swing atSarah’s pitch and connectedwith the ball. It flew straight atSarah and smacked into hertemple. She was knocked outcold, and taken to the hospital.Tests showed she was in a sort ofcoma. Doctors told me theydidn’t know when . . . or if . . .my daughter would wake up.The next few weeks were a blur.

I spent most of my time at thehospital beside Sarah’s bed.And, I vented my anger at thegirl who had hit the ball thatstruck my Sarah. I’m ashamedto say I called that girl on thephone and cursed at her, evenyelled at her mother. I was still angry when I decid-

ed to go to church one Sunday, inhopes I’d feel better. Would youbelieve it, the preacher’s sermonthat day was about forgiveness!He talked about how Jesus askedGod to forgive those who beatand crucified Him. That mademe think . . . if Jesus could for-give, how could I hold a grudge?I said a little prayer, then calledup that girl whose ball had hitmy Sarah and apologized. As Ihung up the phone, suddenly Igot another call. It was the hos-pital telling me Sarah hadwaked up! I rushed over therewith my other daughter and weall cried and hugged each other.Sarah recovered completelyfrom her ordeal, and I feel likeJesus taught me a lesson aboutforgiving others!

Dear Friends in Fellowship,You haven’t heard from me in a

long time, I know, but many a dayI’ve thought about you all,believe me. You never forgot me,always sending the FaithMagazine that kept me going,and living. I was struggling totake care of myself, because Iwas very sick over these pastmonths. I had cellulitis in bothlegs and couldn’t walk. I was in the hospital, scared andcrying out to Jesus. I called uponmy Blessed God, praying withmy Bible in my hands. I read theHoly Book as I sat up and elevat-ed my legs each day. The nurseswere very good to me, and ourHeavenly Father answered mycalls. I was so thankful and

blessed that I got better and wasable to come home. I walk with a cane now and do

what I can, but I’m climbing themountain, Jesus, and I know Youare at the top! I can see You hold-ing Your Hand out to me, saying Iwon’t need my cane much longerbecause now I go twice a week fortherapy exercise. My balance ismuch better because of it.True, I still take medication thatis very expensive, but what isn’texpensive these days? I read myArthritis Prayer every day, andthe other prayers, too. I pray formany other people who are sick,and I’m writing these words frommy heart and mind. Blessed Jesus, the Son of God,.

He truly loves us and helps us. Heis always with us. Pity the peoplewho don’t believe this. I hope andpray they will learn about Himfor their own sake. Thank you for reading my let-

ter, Dear Fellowship. I’ll be wait-ing for my prayers to beanswered, just as many othersare waiting. Do me another favorif you will, and send me aProsperity Harvest Plan! I’mexcited to try it out and see howmuch money I can save. Well, that’s all I wanted to share

If ever you feel lost, God willwalk you home, Dear Friend! Now, that may sound a little

strange, but maybe we canexplain it with this story. Some time ago, a young

woman lived in a rundownneighborhood in a large city.One day, she had a quarrel withher sister and she got so mad shedecided to go out for a walk.Well, this young woman was soangry she lost track of time, andended up walking for hours. Shedidn’t really have a destination,and wound up a few miles fromher home in an area known forcrime. Now, she was afraid oftrying to walk back homethrough miles of dark streets byherself. Suddenly, the young woman

saw the lights of a police stationahead, so she walked in. Shewent up to the desk and asked, “Igot lost. Could someone walk mehome?” She explained how shecame to be there, without apurse or any money to hail a cab. It wasn’t long before one of

the officers on duty volunteeredto drive this young woman backhome in his patrol car. Shearrived home safely, only havingto explain why the police hadtaken her home.So, let’s go back to our first

two paragraphs when we talked

about you walking with God,shall we! You see, you also maybecome lost and be withoutresources when you are in somekind of trouble. In those kinds of situations,

you may be faced with goingback through dark alleys ofyour life that may expose you toeven more trouble. Or, you haveanother choice . . . to greet Godin Fellowship’s prayers and askHim in a spiritual sense if Hewould come into your life and“walk you home?” It’s like this -Who do you think has the bestchance of helping you get out oftrouble? Or, who would be yourbest friend and companion? Youknow the answer, don’t you,Dear Member? God is waitingand willing to walk you home!

She was surprisedbecause she told me she hadn’tseen your magazine since hermother, who is long deceased,used to get them delivered to herat home. I would appreciate itvery much if you’d put these twofriends of mine on your mailinglist. I’m doing better now and I

have enclosed a contribution togo toward the preparation andpublishing of Faith Magazine. Itmeans a lot to me to get it in themail, and I know it means a lotto many others as well. I hope

you continue to print FAITH farinto the future. Please keep upyour good work. We never knowwho might be reached throughthis little book, and who mightstart really serving the Lord.As for me, I need prayers as

well, since I fell and injured myright arm and shoulder twoyears ago. I hope you can readthis letter because the fall dam-aged nerves in my hand and nowI have trouble writing.Nonetheless, I wanted to writeand tell you what a good job youdo with FAITH, and I hope younever stop publishing it. On the Night of the Last Supper: Jesus took bread and broke, and said "This is My Body." He took wine and gave thanks, and said "This is My Blood."

Refrain:Our Master, our Savior, gave us the vine of love.He is the Bread of life, (coming from heaven above.)

Night when my Lord suffered:This is the Groom's supper, is given to His bride. Promising eternal life, up in the Lord's kingdom.This is the food of souls, is offered to us all.And the blood is given, to help me lest I fall.

Jesus You are my hope; forgive my sins O Lord. Wash me and clean my soul; put on me a new robe.My heart I give to You; Your will I want to do. Your love to me I knew; when You paid all my dues.

Jesus fill all my heart, the devil has no part. And through this Sacrament, He gave me a new start.Jesus to you I pray, to lead me in Your way. Bless me and help me obey, all that the Bible says.

Christ suffered for my sake; His mercy is so great. My sins Jesus forgave, and a new life He gave.My heart is filled with joy, and my spirit rejoices. With God I have union, when I take Communion.

“Found The Lord”I really do enjoy reading yourbooks. Yes, I wish I could sendyou some money, but as youknow I am locked up in the coun-ty jail. I found the Lord andasked Him into my life, and Iwould like to be a Member ofyour Fellowship.

Member Walter E., New Jersey

Some Members have inquiredabout how they might make abequest to Life-Study Fellowship.Through the years, many

Members have chosen to remem-ber our Fellowship in this spe-cial way and we are truly grate-ful. Some Members have includ-ed Fellowship in their wills,while others have named Life-Study Fellowship in their lifeinsurance policies. If you are interested in making

arrangements through your will,we suggest you talk with anattorney who can explain the taxadvantages and ways to go aboutmaking such a bequest.

Please remember that it is toeverybody’s advantage to have awill. This doesn’t apply just tothe very wealthy. The truth iseveryone who owns any propertyneeds a will to direct who shouldbenefit. Otherwise, some or all of your

property will be split up accord-ing to state law, which may leaveyour property in ways you didnot want or intend.Therefore, whether or not you

include a bequest to Life-StudyFellowship, we encourage you toseek the services of an attorneyto have a will drawn up if youhave not already done so.

Here’s How You Can GiveFellowship A Bright Future!

Pray and Believe

When darkness surrounds you,Like a storm,And you feel tired and worn,When the sky turns all grayAnd you can’t find a way,When your heart is weary,Filled with grief and dismay,Do with diligence and sincerity,Seek the Lord and pray!

With believing, the clouds break away.The sun begins the shine,Your life will be filled with hopingAnd everything just fine,Oh miracles do happen,With you this message I leave,Don’t give up on God helping,Only pray and believe!

I will never doubt the power ofprayer, Dear Friends, for I amsure it saved my life many yearsago. Yes, it saved my life and thelives of my daughters who werevery young at that time. This iswhat happened to us . . .One day each week we went

into town to buy groceries at theshopping center. This day, Istarted out with my two daugh-ters in our old car. On the way,we had to cross a double row ofrailroad tracks that ran intotown.As we came up toward the rail-

road crossing there was no sig-nal flashing, so I did not look upand down the tracks as I dowhen there is a signal. I drove ata moderate speed toward thecrossing, when suddenly I sawthat a fast passenger trail wascoming toward me at high speed,even though the signal had notflashed! I push my food on the brakes,

but they didn’t work! Somethinghad gone wrong. I couldn’t stopthe car and it was headed righttoward the crossing and theoncoming train. I didn’t think about my own

death, but of my daughters’ livesthat would be snuffed out by thecollision. I cried out to the Lord,“Oh God, save my little girls!” Suddenly, I heard a voice in

my head telling me to swing thecar to the right as hard as Icould, and the train wouldthrow us out of the way. I react-

ed instantly without thinking,and the car actually overturnedon its side without coming incontact with the train racing by.We were trapped inside, but atleast none of us were hurt. The train came to a screeching

halt down the track, and I heardsirens from police and firstresponders who were on theirway. They were able to right mycar and rescue me and mydaughters.It turned out the railroad sig-

nal had broken down, and theconductor told me it was a mira-cle my car had not collided withhis train. If it had, he said wewould all have been killed by theimpact.I have no doubt it was the

Lord’s voice I heard in my headthat day, telling me to turn thecar. He heard my prayer andrushed to help!
