FOF]ESTRY CLUBby Keith Mousel

During the l986-'87 school year, ForestryClub members were involved in a number ofactivities. The annual New Student Welcome, held in early Sept., was again successful inaquainting old and new members of theforestry department.

ln October, work began clearing anothersection of the Club's Christmas Tree plantation. The plantation is an all-year project involvingfelling trees, cutting firewood, chipping brushand branches, spreading chips, sprayingweeds and planting. There should be enoughwork at the plantation to keep club membersbusy into late spring.

ln December our annual Christmas Treesale was held in the motorcycle parking lotnear the Memorial Union. Members whoworked more than 8 hours on sales were

given $5.00 towards a meal at BonanzaSteak House on March 1. Members inattendance filled up on the salad bar andwere barely able to finish their meals.Miraculously, though, they found room forthe soft-serve ice cream before waddling outthe door.

Throughout the school year, forestry clubbershave enjoyed firesides hosted by facultymembers, programs given by Dr. Carl Mizeon his tour of duty in Mexico and BillHaywood and John Stacey on Life afterGraduation.

Members are also looking forward to

participating in VEISHEA and the upcomingWild Game Banquet to be held March 28.
